The ferrite mix is not specified but since it is an iron mix we presume it to be similar to the 31 mix which is best for damping on-line noise. It seems to work very well for that. Properly wound, it makes a great common mode choke

Needed a couple of ferrite toroids between my solar inverter and my batteries to keep HF out of the batteries. They aren't the snap around type, but work great. These work. You won't find anything cheaper or large enough to allow two 2/0 wires through.
