You can put the handle on either bolt. It changes the gearing so that one way winds in the cable slower, but I t is easier to move heavier loads. The other way winds in the cable faster, but it is harder to do.

Can the slip hook be used as a chocker?

No mounting hardware

I saw another review saying there was no hardware included - should have trusted that review. Overall, holes aligned up with my boat trailer, seems sturdy enough. Just no hardware, bolts or anything included.
