For comparison I checked it against a conventional 40mm long plate which is 38mm front to back and that weighs 31g. The latter detail is important because it avoids needing a separate tool to tighten or loosen the plate. Yes, it can be used on a gimbal as described, but also fit on a compatible tripod Arca Swiss ballhead. This has been particularly useful in my case to replace a very slim plate that came with a Leofoto head lacking a D-Ring. Now I no longer have to mess around looking for a tool and the plate is more substantial, so easier to handle, making this a solid upgrade at a low price. In summary, this is one of those well-made accessories that doesn’t cost a fortune.
