Dried Moss

Love the earthy smell & beautiful brown/green colors in the natural moss. Looks great covering the outside of my wire baskets. Also helps keep my indoor plants watered longer.

I received the CLSR2U Dried Forest Moss ideal for plants, orchids, and bedding for small critters. The best option for orchid plantings would be a mixture of both sphagnum and dried forest moss. This combination provides excellent water retention and aeration for the roots of orchids, allowing them to grow healthily. The sphagnum moss holds on to moisture, while the dried forest moss provides air pockets for the roots to breathe. Together, they create a well-balanced growing environment for orchids. However using dry forest moss for decorating the tops of plants to give them a bit more of a earthy rustic looks is great. Another great use for this dried moss is cage bedding for critters such as tortoises hamsters gerbils. This is a very nice product and I recommend it as a mixture for orchid repotting. I gave this 4 stars because although it is a good product planting orchids with just this moss would dry your orchids out to fast and possibly damage the plants.

The moss feels and smells nature as advertised but it came in a flimsy plastic bag. Because the moss is very messy to work with in general, definitely need to work outdoors when separating the moss out. It separates out easily but emits a plume of dust with every tear. I used it for planting medium for orchids, which seems to work well. The moss has good water retention but will not get too soggy for the roots.
