I hear better with them on than with them off.
My original purpose for buying this headphone set is for home defense, where I need to protect my hearing while still being able to communicate with the police or 911 operator. I would lose my hearing if I were to discharge my firearm in the close confines of a closet or bedroom. To make this highly reliable, I installed lithium, rather than alkaline batteries in it so I have a 20 year shelf life with no risk of leakage. Now about the product. The quality seems very good to me. The plastic cast head cups are attractive and well done. The headband clamp is strong and made of metal so the ear-cups are firmly pressed against your head. The micro phones are quite sensitive. If you turn the volume up all the way, you can hear much better than with your own ears. I might try these next time I fly. I have not tried these at the shooting range yet. I did try them at home by using a leather belt, folded in half, drawn together and then pulled apart quickly to produce a loud pop. I did this close to the headphones. The electronic circuit muted instantly so all I heard was a muffled sound from the belt. Interestingly, a referee whistle is not blanked and comes through quite loud and piercing. Apparently, the electronic circuitry mutes only "impact" type sounds. Each ear-cup has its own power on and volume control. That means one volume knob turns one direction and the other turns the opposite. There is no label on the ear-cup indicating left or right. The headphones are symmetrical; you point the microphone forward or backward depending on what you want to hear. The battery compartment is a bit too tight for the batteries to fit in without some struggle. I had to use a screwdriver to pry the batteries into their holders. This could present a problem if you need to change out the batteries in the field and have no tools. The ear-cups fold nicely up into the headband area so the unit is a nice tight package when stored. Assuming these perform OK at the shooting range, I would buy again.

An excellent product for the small price.
The earmuffs perform as advertised, shutting off the external feed when a loud noise is encountered, with the ear pieces fully enclosing the ear, muffling even the loudest firearm. Even with my big head, the ear muffs sit comfortably with the fully padded head strap and are adjustable to allow for size. I only have two minor concerns with this product, that keep it from being prefect: 1. Each ear muff is independently powered, so you need to switch each one on separately. This is not a big issue, but is confusing as the dials move in opposite directions, when you have the ear muffs on. 2. The mic pick-ups are very sensitive, with the user hearing a lot of background "white noise", when you have the volume up high. Wind and other air movements also tend to be picked up and amplified, so when using in head wind conditions, a trick I've discovered is to wear them reverse, so the mic's are pointing to the rear and are somewhat shielded by your head. Also, the ear muffs I got are slightly different from the ones pictured above. Instead of the screw secured cover, as pictured above, mine have slide out covers. This does not effect the performance of the muffs, but it is worth noting, so you know what you are really getting.

Best Entry Level Electronic Ear Muffs.
I tried the Caldwell E-Max low pro, Caldwell G3, and the Howard Leight Impact Sport, and these were the best all-around winner. They don't work like the E-max and the Impact sports which cut all sound out when sounds exceed eighty some decibels. The Champion works like the Caldwell's newer G3 technology, which maintains the sound levels coming from the microphones while cutting out only the louder harmful sounds. The materials seem slightly better overall, which helps these win out. The impact sport has better materials than them all, but they fit very peculiarly (See my review of the Howard Leight Impact sport). The Impact sports just don't fit average to small heads. The E-max did a decent job, and fit well too. The materials of the e-max was even considerably cheaper though. The vinyl headband is super flimsy and don't see it hold up long term. The muffs also feel more cheaply made. The Champions have nice materials and feel on the headbancd for this price point. To top it off, the Champions also have the best NRR rating of 25. For an inexpensive electronic ear muff this is my top pick.

Affordable, Quality Electronic Ear Muffs
They work well for what I need them for: home improvement and yard work. Have not tried these at the range yet, but at 25 nrr I would not want this to be the only form of hearing protection at most indoor ranges. The build quality is very good for the price. The downside is that for people with bigger heads, the maximum extension for the muffs just barely fits without chafing or leaving the earlobes uncovered. The sound amplification also works fine, with minimal or no lag in sound transmission. The microphones that pick up the sound may be a bit sensitive, so some people have suggested wearing these backwards with the mics pointed behind you. All in all a good pair of electronic ear muffs for the price. Champion Electronics made a good, affordable product, although they could spend a few more cents per unit for longer extenders to accommodate bigger heads.

These work great. Nice to be able to hear clearly when needed, but get the sound protection when necessary.

Can't be beat for the price, these are extremely comfortable even with shooting glasses on. It's a bit annoying to have to turn on each side individually and adjust the volume to match, and it takes up a fair amount of space in my range bag compared to my HL's, but considering these are a fraction of the price, I should have just bought these to begin with. They do get quite hot, but I imagine that to be the case with any muffs

El mecanismo para guardarlos ahorrando espacio está genial. Los materiales me parecieron de buena calidad. Le doy cuatro estrellas porque me quedaron chicos, pero ese es un problema que yo tengo. Me hicieron la devolución completa. Recomendables.
