A while back, I retired an old laptop and decided to re-use the SSD in it and I found this hub that has room for a SSD. Since I need a hub anyway for connecting to various other things when I travel, this seemed to be a good idea, and it was. Recognized the SSD, no problem. If you have a single sided SSD (components stick out on one side...), then you have plenty of room. If you have a double sided SSD like I used, it can be a bit of a tight fit, but it did work (just). A word of warning...this thing can get hot if you transfer a lot of files. Not too warm for unsafe operations, just don't rest your fingers on it. ;o)

I like the long, lean format of this hub, with the HDMI on the end and a slightly longer cord for the USB-C than I have had with other hubs. It lets me use it more easily when my laptop is on a stand. The power pass-thru port works, freeing up my second and only other USB-C port on the laptop. Everything has worked so far in a plug & play fashion - the HDMI, keyboard & mouse dongle, thumb drive, phone, the SD slot. No problems with speed. The hub itself feels solid and sturdy and the cord is a thick one, nothing flimsy about it. The port labels on the hub are a little hard to read unless you've got just the right lighting. But I really only needed to read them to figure out which one was the power pass-through. So not a big deal. Laptops come with so few ports now, a hub is a must-have and this one is pretty nice.
