The company's recommended method of placing the rail against a flat and sturdy surface and snapping the rail along the perforation with pliers is going to be impossible for all but the strongest individuals. I am a man of average strength and I was unable to break the rails this way. My solution was using my hacksaw to deepen the perforations until I was able to break the rail by hand. The rails then slid effortlessly into their supports and the rail system was installed in a matter of minutes. My antique filing cabinet is once again usable for its intended purpose, and the rails feel very sturdy and unlikely to fail in any way now that they are securely installed. For reference, my filing cabinet is wooden, 2 drawers, 14" deep and 12" wide, and this product fit into the drawers perfectly.
