In the 1990s, further developments of the 747-500/-600 (see above) and 747-700 were developed several times, but they did not encounter enough customer interest and have therefore not been realised. Since Boeing was under pressure by the A380 of the competitor Airbus in the area of large aircraft (over 400 seats), the aircraft builder in 2004 retired the concept of an advanced 747-400. This time this machine was initially advertised as 747 Advanced. On November 14, 2005, the project was finally launched under the name 747-8. As with the 787 model, Boeing does not use the last two digits of the version designation in the new 747 version, so that you could establish the relationship with the 787 from which technical innovations were adopted, i.e. instead of 747-800, the model is officially called 747-8.
