The Art of Mondo

This may in fact be the best book I have ever purchased. Glancing at my bookshelves there are maybe 2 that I would put on the same tier as this one. The quality here is top notch across the board. The covers are thick, the paper is heavy, and almost all of the art is displayed clearly as a full page print. I don't normally talk about the material a book is made out of, but in this case I feel it is worth mentioning, that this is a NICE book. And then there is the artwork. Some of the most stunning, inspiring, and awesome works you can find all in one collection. I honestly feel like I have acquired a priceless relic.

I am fascinated by this book every time I open it, which is frequently. What an amazing collection of high-quality, detailed poster illustrations! The paper quality is great and the overall design of the book is brilliant.

I bought this book as a gift. It arrived sealed in clear wrap and just before I was about to put wrapping paper around it I gave in to the temptation to take a peek so I removed the plastic wrap. OMG. I'm keeping this book! For anyone who loves film and/or art this is a great book. It is generous in every way and includes over 300 11"x13" pages of art. For the price, this is a gorgeous book. Looks like I'll have to order another one for the gift!

A little background info from Wikipedia first. What is Mondo? "Mondo is an American company known for releasing limited edition screen printed posters for films, television shows, and comics, as well as vinyl movie soundtracks, clothing and apparel, toys, and re-issues of VHS releases. Founded in 2004 as Mondo Tees, the company is a subsidiary of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain in Austin, Texas, and currently hosts a permanent gallery space there which features original artwork and custom posters." What is this book? The Art of Mondo features 352 pages chronicling the artistic "highlights and favorites from Mondo's first nine years..." What are my thoughts? If you love illustration, movie posters, printmaking, or even just looking at pretty pictures; get this book. Hundreds of immaculate illustrations printed in lush, full color on almost every page. Featuring some of the top illustrators working today (Florian Bertmer, Jock, Kevin Tong, Tyler Stout, Ken Taylor, Daniel Danger, Aaron Horkey and many more) this book will consume you in the best way. Only a couple of the larger or atypical sized illustrations had to be scaled down a bit resulting in a minor loss of quality but nearly every page jumps out at you in stunning detail. The book is a very heavy duty hardback edition but time will tell if the binding holds up. The book is organized by years and each chapter begins with a small write up from the various creative directors involved with the company. Some of the featured illustrations in the book include both the big blockbuster titles like Star Wars and classic Disney as well as cult classics like Creepshow, Friday the 13th, Flash Gordon and many more from every film genre. The Art of Mondo will be an invaluable source of artistic inspiration for me for years to come. It's also the next best thing for those of us who have never been able to snag a Mondo print before they sold out. How was the delivery/shipment? I ordered my copy from the seller "sparklebooks" and it arrived very quickly. I received it three days before the expected delivery date. It was packaged well with plenty of peanuts for support and the book itself came sealed in plastic wrap. Tl;dr: Do you love movies and art? Buy it. 5 stars.

This book is amazing. The amount of artwork packed into this this is crazy. If you are a fan of Mondo art, or even alternate posters for movies you would be crazy not to pick this up

Epic design company and totally a beautiful book. Got half off at Amazon brand new, always wanted, great coffee table read, and my go-to for creative inspiration.

The photos are beautiful and there are a lot of them, which makes me happy. You can buy the same thing on Amazon in Japan, but it's considerably cheaper to buy it on Amazon in the United States, including shipping. I arrived in only one week. I'm sorry if my English is wrong. The product is great.

This book is incredible! It’s a collection of Mondo posters and prints, with intricate detailed design. Everything from the typography to the illustrations are phenomenal. As far as the actual book, this version is a softcover version of the hardcover. The print quality is the same as the hardcover which is really great. It seems like the printing used higher than 300 dpi so the prints are extra crisp and very high resolution. Also the book includes a few fold out posters for landscape designs. There was clearly a lot of care and time put into this book, which makes it well worth the price.

El estado de los pósters de las películas de hoy en día es lamentable, genéticos, intercambiables, hechos por agencias, malo comité, totalmente olvidables. Es en este espacio que entidades como Mondo, Dark Ink o Bottleneck Gallery nos dan lo que añoramos, posters hechos por un artista y con la bendición de los estudios, además de dar casi siempre una corrida limitada. Es imposible tener todos los pósters de Mondo, sería una inversión muy grande, y pocos tienen tantas paredes. Este libro es un excelente compilado de estas grandes creaciones, y cuesta lo que uno solo de esos pósters. El formato se ajusta para hacerles justicia, y tanto el papel como el tamaño son ideales.

The Art of Mondo ist ein sensationelles Bildband, das keine Wünsche offen lässt. Das Buch ist hochwertig verarbeitet, die Papierqualität ist exzellent und die Auswahl an Motiven, ist meiner Meinung nach, gut gewählt. Vorwort und Begleittexte sind informativ, auch wenn Fans hier nicht viel Neues erfahren. Wer ein passendes Geschenk für Filmliebhaber oder Posterfreunde sucht, kann hier nichts falsch machen. Den Preis finde ich insgesamt okay. UVP sind laut Buchrücken 75 US-$.

Questo è un artbook di pregio che vale ogni centesimo. Mondo è una compagnia che produce poster, action figures e tracce musicali, ma questo forse lo sapete già. 🔵 il libro è una raccolta grafica dei poster e delle visual key prodotte dalla casa texana nel corso di tre decenni. Il libro è infatti suddiviso per decennio fino ad arrivare al 2010 (manca infatti il bellissimo poster fatto per doom 2016). 🟣 altissima la qualità cartotecnica del prodotto, solido, pesante e con una carta di ottima qualità che rende alla perfezione la visione artistica dei creativi in termini di colori, saturazione, contrasto ecc. Tutto viene impreziosito dai bellissimi poster spiegabili (a volte di 2 a volte di 3 pagine) inclusi all’interno del volume che rendono alla perfezione la dignità di opere come ritorno al futuro o la complessità di film come Akira. 🔴 il libro si sfoglia con la facilità di un fumetto di topolino. Il suo fascino ipnotizzante vi porterà a sfogliarlo ancora e ancora nei giorni a seguire. 🟢 un bellissimo regalo per designer, fotografi, disegnatori e artisti!

Over 300 quality images in a decent sized book. Not loads of text but some nice nuggets of information on the history and context of Mondo are scattered sparingly. This book is really great for visual inspiration and has a quick-refence image and artist/designer guide in its' back pages which is a very nice touch. Back cover says original rrp is £49.99 so at this price it really is a steal in my opinion.

El arte de la gente de Mondo siempre es espectacular. Un libro muy interesante, y que si te gusta todo el tema de diseño gráfico e ilustración, además del cine, es un imprescindible.
