Hi, No it is not difficult to pull the sleeve over the drain as it is not tight Fitting. It slides over really easy.

Assuming I backfill with 20 m gravel would I then still need to wrap the whole lot in a fabric?

Hi Vincent, Thanks for your question. Encasing the pipe in peabeach shingle acts as a filter but if any earth that is back filled on top of the shingle, could possibly filter through the shingle and possibly block the drain holes in your land drain tubing.
