No problem. **Q: Anyone used these on open fire, bbq etc. ?** A: Hi, yes I use nothing but cast iron on my various outdoor cooking methods. Cleanest is use on an OzPig stove where no direct flame (soot or smoke really) contacts the pans/Dutch oven etc. This is similar to cooking on a normal kitchen stove. Next cleanest is in a Kamado BBQ as a vessel for ‘low n slow’ cooking where a heat deflector turns the kamado into a giant charcoal powered oven. Clean and nice flavours. Next is the Weber kettle, where if not directly above the charcoal, minimal if any sooting of the bottom occurs, and over the flame only grease smoke or freshly lit coals will blacken the bottom of the pans a tad. Now let’s get down and DIRTY. Cooking over open flame is very rewarding, and these pans take everything in their stride, being the choice of centuries of pioneering cowboys and so forth. Over a small rocket stove or on my EcoZoom stove I get minimal sooting if using nice dry seasoned wood, or wood pellets. Once the jet effect of the rocket stove is in effect it’s a fairly clean burn. Burning damper, less well seasoned wood, acorns, bark etc is a different story, and adding stater materials like wax, paraffin etc can also cause more soot and blackening. The good news is, you can either scrub them with steel wool and salt, or scrunched up aluminium foil to clean, or even burn off the carbon in a really hot fire. I prefer just to clean them well using abrasives and hot water, then re-season with beef dripping or olive oil. These pans take a lot of abuse, and if you really mess it up you can sand it down, re-season and start again. **Q: Does this come with the pot holder and mit? The description says it does but its not under items in the box** A: No pot holders or mittens. Only used the pan so far but it makes a huge difference when searing off meat to a normal pan, just tastes better. Trying to get used to the cleaning after as not supposed to use soap water as can strip the seal.
