It is much better to just use the snuffer cap that immediately stops the wick burning any more so you can use it again from the place on the wick where it has stopped. Think of it like a candle. You don't cut the wick on the candle. You just stop the flame and start again when you are ready. **Q: Will domestic smoke alarms go off with this pen in use to test for drafts** A: Good morning, thank you for your question. The smoke pen can be also used to test smoke alarms, therefore in theory it could trigger a domestic smoke alarm. However, it only produces a thin line of smoke so, if far enough away from a smoke alarm it should be fine, particularly if it is extracted straight out. Hope this helps. Kind Regards, The Team at Arctic Hayes **Q: How do you get the stick into the pen?** A: PRESS the silver button, the jaws open, slide in the stick **Q: I need a vat receipt** A: It only takes a few seconds to tell if there is a draught. Snuff the burn after each window test! Don't leave it burning as I can imagine that you might indeed trigger the smoke alarm. ## Frequently Bought Together - Arctic Hayes 333113 1 x Pen Kit with 3 Smoke Sticks, Test Slight Air-Movement, Gas Mandatory CO Spillage Checks of Boiler/Case Sills, Orange - Smoke Pencil ONE Air Leak Detection Hazer Field Kit - Handheld Smoke Stick Draft Detector Machine with Fog Juice for Detecting Leaks, Puffer Tool for HVAC Techs Energy Raters - Smoke Pencil ONE Air Leak Detection - Handheld Smoke Stick - Draft Detector Puffer Fog Pen Machine Kit --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.fr/products/50379263-arctic-hayes-smoke-stick-pen-kit-with-3-smoke-sticks](https://www.desertcart.fr/products/50379263-arctic-hayes-smoke-stick-pen-kit-with-3-smoke-sticks) --- *Product available on Desertcart France* *Store origin: FR* *Last updated: 2026-10-25*
