Shouldn’t the be incompatible on thread step&shape?** A: NPT is US standard where as G is overseas. Yes they will thread in to each other but you won't have a good seal. The pitch of the threads are off just a little bit and then it will leak. I've already tried that just for my own thaughts on it and I couldn't get them to seal up right. So I put them on like I was supposed to and no leaks on my hot water heater that I ordered from overseas. It was way cheaper than the units here in the states. Most of the stuff we buy anyways comes from overseas. They just change up some of the things, and that's it. Will cost you at least 4 times more buying it here in the states. 139 for my heater and the local place had same thing for 900+. No thanks. **Q: Are they lead free?** A: Doubtful that it would be more than a trace amount, if any at all. Shouldn't, by law, be more than 1/4 of 1%. You can test it or have it tested. Some companies will supply a traceability cert; typically about $25 with their products. **Q: Is this food safe? Can it be used with drinking water?** A: I used it it on shower pipe but it's ok for drinking water. **Q: Can these be used for a propane stovetop?** A: Most gas fittings are brass. Both sides have the same G thread making it really useless. Based on other reviews it’s unclear whether these are mistakes or intentional. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Saved My Bacon *by on Reviewed in the United States 30 June 2019* I was renovating my master bathroom. When I went to install the fixtures, I realized I had set the rough-ins about 3/8's inch too far back. Went to the box store to get exactly this product to extend my rough-in. The "35-year experience plumber" working at the box store claimed this fitting didn't exist. I knew it did, so came home and found on Amazon. Product arrived in a couple days, and perfectly did as intended. It did wind up extending about 1/2"...so the fixtures were now about 1/4" too far out. But with sanded caulk, I was able to make it work. Better solution than tearing back out the tile, and re-doing.
