Microsculpture: Extreme macro portraits revealing insects as alien, sculptural works of natural art.

Flies and moths, on my And artsy beetles galore Bugs are very cool I have this thing about bugs. With a few notable exceptions, I love them. I've always known they were super-cool looking, but this is the first book that I think captures that. Or it is the book that captures that best. The photos here are stunning. This is a must-have for any sophisticated bug lover. Not sure how big that market is ... ha ha

Love the photography, but Amazon just doesn’t do a good job shipping books. This was to be a gift and the cover had a rip, so I did an exchange. The exchanged version was better, but the corners were pushed in. All due to rotten packaging. I Hope Amazon improves this. Don’t buy new books from Amazon unless you don’t care that they’ll likely get to you looking like used-very good condition books.

I enjoyed this author's TED talk, and especially enjoyed that his young son's curiosity turned him onto a new venture. As he describes it, the boy came in from the back yard with an insect, and father and son took a look at it under a home microscope. But the mania did not stop there and eventually this artist began taking numerous "tiled" photos of each insect, compiling the segments into gorgeous (large format) prints. They are stunningly beautiful, and I'm so glad to have this book in my art library. (PS: I ordered two of these books, since I knew I wanted to give one to a fellow artist as a gift. The two books without ANY packing materials, bubble wrap, shrink-wrap, or any protection were thrown into a too-large Amazon box, with one strip of their packaging tape. Done! By pure luck these books arrived in OK shape -- but the shipment showed a carelessness that was very disappointing. I so value the books in my library -- I wish the people packing the books at Amazon had the same feeling.)

I LOVE this book. I teach science and we were doing a unit on nano structures. This was perfect. It gave my students a brand new way of looking at things in the world.

The pictures were beautiful but I thought it was going to be a bigger book. It was pretty small as in not many pages. I feel like 35$ is a little much since it does not contain that many pages. Either way, the pictures still look great so if you are into bugs I recommend.

Wow this book is clearly a product of passion and dedication. Such detail and artistry in a world unseen. Highly recommended for any bug lovers.

Gorgeous awe-inspiring imagery. Nothing like it.

Absolutely loved this book. Incredibly detailed, which I found very useful in understanding how to create a unique insect in the fantasy world of my novel. The insects portrayed in this novel are of huge variety and from all over the world, giving you that same excitement turning each page as the prior page did. I initially found this in B&N, fell in love with it, then ordered from Amazon. The quality was unmatched, and I ended up getting it two days earlier which came in handy. Overall, I definitely recommend this book even if just for the pictures. The only con I noticed that was due to the design of the book pages and their pure black background, they easily accumulate finger prints and dust - but that doesn't take away from the beauty they behold.

Not sure about the black background. One of the description titles is doubled for two different insects, leading me to believe that this book was not carefully looked at before publishing. The bug selection is interesting however.

So much better than I imagined; the book, presentation, photos and information (including the photographer's process) combine to create a perfect book of beauty and wonder!
