Decent switch, no UK power supply

*by K***1 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 December 2020*

I've got a few other Ubiquiti products and was looking for a cheap switch for my office which has a few more devices than it used to thanks to working from home. I did have an old Netgear switch but decided to pick up a Ubiquiti device but didn't want another full size 8 port switch. As a basic switch it does what it says on the tin and was immediately detected by my Ubiquiti controller and once adopted looks like any other Ubiquiti switch with the exception that some stats aren't available and some are not real time. The switch itself is very small, less than half the size of the old Netgear 8 port switch that was on my desk. It can be powered either by USB-C or via PoE but it's worth noting that the bundled power supply is a European version but as it's just standard USB-C it's easy enough to use something else or use PoE if you want. Personally I would have preferred if the USB-C power supply had a detachable cable which would make the process easier of swapping to another plug and really the lack of UK or even just a standard USB-C cable is the only thing that lets it down. I happened to have one going spare but not everyone will. If you're planning on using PoE to drive it then you've got no worries though but remember that this is PoE to power the device only and it will not passthrough.

Great mini switch if you have UniFi

*by N***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 October 2020*

First off, don't be 'fooled' by the POE in the description, this has no POE out or any POE passthrough like some of the other Unifi stitches. Note it didn't come with a UK mains adapter, but a 2 pin European style mains adapter and then 2 pin to UK adapter. That said I have it powered via POE from an upline UniFi switch so it isn't an issue. It showed up straight away on the network and once adopted it did take a couple of attempts to update the firmware, but got there in the end - perhaps it was still cold from the delivery van!Highly recommended if you have a UniFi network for adding a few extra ports if needed to a room and have a POE switch to power it from, or a suitable USB power supply to power it from (USB 'C' connection), otherwise I'd wait for 'proper' UK mains supply. If you don't already have a UniFi network and just want a managed switch there are cheaper alternatives, but given it can be powered by POE or USB it might still make sense as an unmanaged switch.Update - NO SNMP, Unifi and SNMP do seem to be very hit and miss - some do, some don't, others sort of - this is a not at all. First one died after a few weeks but now on replacement and this has been working for months now.

    Nice Little Switch

*by K***P on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 February 2022*

Nice little switch which does what it's meant to do. I did originally get a Netgear as I didn't know about this little Unifi switch but as all my other switching / APs are Unifi, made sense to get this when I saw it.I have it powered via POE from my core switch. Lucky I can do this as the switch was supplied with a European plug and as it's a sealed PSU unit, there's not much that can be done short of buying a Euro to UK adapter - this was from Amazon Warehouse too, not a third party. So, pretty poor and marked down accordingly. My only other issue it it's not as 'manageable' as the normal switches, i.e. there's no STP/RSTP support, no temp sensor and no Experience or Utilisation information on the controller dashboard. So, it's definitely a cut-down version when compared to the 'standard' switches. But hey, it does what it's meant to do and the price from AW was good.
