I've been using Verbatim Blu-ray discs for many years, both M-Disc and regular. I found them to be excellent optical media. I had bought 900 of these Verbatim Japan Blu-ray discs over the last year. I had checked one initially when I bought 100 of them and it worked fine. Yesterday I ran out of my old stock 50GB discs and started to use these. I had 5 failures in a row. The discs would not initialize. I eventually figured out they will only burn at 2X and fail at anything above that. But don't hold me to it; I've only burnt 2 discs successfully as they take so long to burn. I wondered why they were so cheap including shipping from Japan. I can see why now. I needed 4000 of these discs for the archive. I'm glad I stopped at 900 discs before wasting more money. I would not recommend them for anything but for temporary backup that can be trashed after a short term. And even then, there are better Blu-ray options for temporary backup that burn faster than 2x. They may start to delaminate or have another problem. Just no telling, you can't have any faith in your media when it is so way off from spec. Big disappointment from Verbatim Japan. Daniel D. Bought two spindles (100 discs) before and 100% successful burn rate with ASUS SBW-06D5H-U and LG WP50NB40 Blu-ray-Burners. However this current third spindle gave me about 11 coasters right off the back. Can't explain it other than this spindle must have come from a bad manufacturing batch. I’m retuning the remaining blanks for a refund. In the meantime, I’ve ordered from the same Japan company my 4th spindle hoping I don’t get the same bad batch.

I love these Blu Ray disks. They are shipped from Japan and worth the extra cost compared to the cheap disks. I have used the Single layer disks and now I am using the dual layer disks. I have bought them three time now and they work great.

I retrieve old video from a variety of different formats and am glad for this size BluRay as I do not have to piece meal some projects or sacrifice resolution in the process. Verbatim has always been my dependable go-to media

It appears that Verbatim has begun outsourcing production of its discs to third parties, and quality for this once reliable brand has dropped off sharply. Enough failed writes and verify passes that I actually replaced my burner, but there was no change. Worse still, several discs have had visible damage to the extreme outer edge of the data layer. After years of buying Verbatim discs I'm now looking for alternatives.

Warning do not burn above 3x , I have tried on 4 different burners and anything above 3x will give you coasters and for some reason blisters as others have pointed out. I recommend at 2x, I have done already about 15 discs and all work perfect but keep it to 2x.

I burn these using macOS and get a verification error each time but when I run my own checksum afterwards all files are intact so I would advise anybody to not blame verbatim for what is likely a software issue not a hardware issue

I have always brought my Blu Ray media from Japan as they offer dramatically lower per GB and disc pricing than the UK Amazon provides. Blu Ray media is much less prone to burn errors than DVD+/- Media and has a much denser capacity. I also cannot easily buy DL discs in the UK as only single layer 25GB discs are plentiful. I can halve the number of discs and amount of space needed with DL discs. My recorder cannot use any higher than DL discs and they provide the best cost per GB pricing. These discs work great on my DMR-BWT850 Blu Ray recorder as well as my ASUS BD-RE Drive. I have set my PC drive to burn at the highest reliable speed and I have had no issues with burning/reading these discs. My recorder has also not had any 'coasters' as of yet. In the lifetime of the recorder, I have had very few BD discs fail to burn and Verbatim discs seem to be the most reliable BD discs. Shipping is fairly fast for me considering the distance they have to come. I would also suggest buying in bulk to save on shipping costs. As the more you order, the more the high shipping costs are offset. I usually buy 2 at a time but you can buy more if you need. The only improvement is they could do with a little more padding in boxes considering the fact they are coming a long distance to me.
