Huge, well made, well designed notebook
I am a long time Moleskine user. I've used the large notebooks (I even have a cool Gfeller leather cover), the A4, and the cahiers. Like many Moleskine fans, I have noticed a decline in quality over the past few years, and like many who think an expensive notebook should be made well and built to last, I looked for replacement options. The master size notebook is very large - you can glue an entire 8.5" x 11" or A4 sheet on one of the notebook pages. This is a really cool feature for things like travel, because you can print out a map of a city or neighborhood, glue it into the notebook, and jot down notes on the map. But even for general note taking, if you like to leave a lot of white space on the page, then this notebook definitely fits the bill. The built in table of contents, page numbers, and date fields are very nice organizational touches. If you use note organizing systems like bullet notes or the highfive method ([...]), this notebook's built in features enhance your ability to keep track of your notes. The quality of the notebook paper is very good. I use a fountain pen with a broad nib, which tends to write pretty wet, but the paper in the notebook handles it pretty well. I get very little bleedthrough, and the ink dries down in a few seconds. The print quality of the lines in the notebook is great, and the binding is done so the lines match from page to page. Compared to my last few Moleskines, which had waxy paper that didn't handle fountain pen ink very well, and printed lines that were much darker and wider than older versions (I pulled some old notebooks and compared - the difference is visible), and poor binding so the lines don't match up from page to page, it's no contest. Go read about Leuchtturm 1917 - read the other reviews here on Amazon, and read reviews elsewhere. If there's a store near you that carries these notebooks, definitely check them out.

Perfect notebook for engineers and PM's. Very durable notebook. Designed for archival storage.
One of my favorite books to track Program Management of a certain program or project. I keep one of those for all things related to a program. The dotted version--this one and the squared one ore often my preference to Moleskine (my original go to note book) I still love Moleskine, but these are better for managing programs. The dots are ingenious and seem invisible most times. Thicker pages, each numbers and a TOC of sorts to job to a bagel; Although it says A4, the double quivers in A4 are too small for these. These master notebooks are intended to be part of a user lifetime library and come with stickers/labels to ID from the spine of each. Amazing book for a PM or Engineer. Great as an overall organizer and as a planner. I have the a5 of this version and, while smaller they too offer great options. Pock fro storage, and placeholder add to why it's among the best and price accordingly. I don't like mixing projects and typically have empty pages. For small, short efforts, I'll divide areas. I find that changes happen often and coated with acetate to all use of perm marker with ability to erase and change. Great record to enter progress into s/w systems and able to respond to questions quickly and accurately. Love my iPad and iPad pro but they just are great not takers. Paper remains among the best Pages are easily photocopied to share notes and distribute actions. I often find myself looking at ones fro decades ago and often find answer quickly. Again very durable and puts up with a lot of abuse without falling apart. Expensive, but you often get wha you pay for. Never disappointed. I do make a few modifications like creating an erasable page, list oh key sections on what page, and adding clear 4x6 self adhesive labels for holding unexpected items easily lost.

5-Star Perfection. Now let's review the notebook and not the reviewer.
The best paper among any notebooks on the market -- even a fine Sharpie doesn't write through. The binding is sound, there's a nice bellows envelope onside to hold loose papers. Two ribbons serve as excellent page markers. Don't forget to note the different paper designs -- you can get various layouts including blank, ruled, wide ruled, quarter inch grid, metric grid, and more, plus my favorite, the dot matrix. This one gives you enough of a hint of organization that you can write neatly and sketch kitchen plans or office layout, but it doesn't overwhelm you and leave you a sobbing insecure writer dominated by a notebook grid. (Yes, it happens.) The cover is durable, the binding endures, and the pages are numbered. What more to ask for? 5 Stars

Great big book for extended writing
First things first, this is a HUGE book. It’s not a journal that you’ll be carrying around unless you have a decent sized bag to carry it in. If your handwriting is small (as is mine) it will appear even smaller when put on the acreage available on the pages of this book. So depending on how it will be used, it may be a bit much. But for me, writing longer form stories and thoughts, it’s nice having the space to explore my mind without flipping multiple pages. The paper is incredibly high quality. I write almost exclusively with broad nib fountain pens that put down a lot of ink, and with my tiny handwriting, that is a lot of ink in a very small space. Even with that, there is no bleed. The paper is smooth to write on without feeling like it’s covered in plastic. Ink dries quickly, and I really haven’t had any spotting when turning pages. Great book. Great pen. Now to just finish my novel!

Excellent... closest thing I found to perfect
I started a daily journal using a spiral notebook. I quickly realized having a journal that you enjoy writing in makes all the difference. As for this style; I'm sure you realized how hard it is finding a "letter" sized journal. Especially hard bound with this many pages. If you haven't been looking long trust me on this. I spent weeks searching for the perfect letter sized journal. This one was the closest I came to fit my needs. Which are; Durable Large Thick paper (none roller ball pen will be seen on other side of paper but will not "bleed" through) Versatile, the dotted pages are awesome making it great for writing time stamped notes, adding photos, charts, stickers, drawing pictures, etc... Simple Elegant... as for me I just cover that damn thing in stickers. I have so much info in this thing. From my daily personal time stamped notes to glued in building reports, photos and of course stickers. It works for everything I need. Extras; The front has a table of contents page which turns out to be really handy. There are some blank pages in the front and back. I used these to put important information like phone numbers, table conversions, business cards, etc. The pages are pretty think. Great for whatever. Gluing stuff in, drawing, etc. You can see I glue whole reports in the pages, add stickers, highlight, etc. I will note that I went to using a ball point so I wouldn't see the writting through the pages. You can use other pens and the ink doesn't "bleed" but you can see it. Pocket in back will hold full letter size pages. Stickers are handy for labeling but I'll be using that more when I'm done with it and it goes on a shelf. I added the pen holders. I bought the off brand. Better deal. There you have it. I highly suggest this for anyone that keeps a daily journal and likes to stay organized.

Awesome Notebook
Great quality. Paper is excellent for fountain pen; felt tip marker, pencil; and regular pens. I like the dotted paper best - the dots are not too dark and give enough of a guide and still don’t show too much. I like the Master A4+ size for organizing thoughts for writing. The cover is sturdy and the elastic band closure is perfect for keeping the book in tact even when carried around in loose backpack or carryon briefcase.

Excellent quality notebook.
I use the LEUCHTTURM1917 Master Classic A4+ as an engineering notebook. It is a quality notebook with excellent paper and solid, thoughtful construction. I'm on my forth notebook now. Unfortunately the latest notebook arrived damaged. Amazon handled it fairly, however.

Great paper, super layout, much improved replacement for the Moleskine fan - with one critique
I first got into nice notebooks through Moleskine. I thought, due to the price, that Moleskine was the best in the business. It wasn't for a couple years until I got into fountain pens that I realized how cheap Moleskine really is. The quality just isn't there to justify the price. Now I'll only buy a Moleskine if I can't find a better manufacturer's product for the style I need. Currently I only own a Moleskine reporter's notebook (it was the smallest hardcover I could find). My other notebooks consist of: - Apica CD Premium A5 notebook lined: a superstar of a notebook. My favorite paper, period. You won't find better paper than this. It's butter-smooth and works amazing with any pen/ink. I would buy a million of these if I could. - Kokuyo Campus MiO: very thin paper, a bit of ghosting (I don't mind at all) but no bleedthrough. Great scrap notebook for writing in your thoughts. For something more serious or long lasting I would go for the Apica, but for every day writing I would go with the MiO. - Clairefontaine side clothbound: the paper is great. Nice and thick. This is probably the second best paper I have, after the Apica (and the quality of the Apica does justify the difference in price for me, but it may not for you). - Rhodia top wirebound: i bought this for scrap notetaking. I'm a lefty, so the top wirebound is great. The paper it top quality. I would rate it on par with the Leuchtturm Master paper. If you like Rhodia, you'll like the Leuchtturm Master. - Leuchtturm Master, the subject of this review. As you can see from my lengthy introduction I have a few different notebooks to compare this to. This isn't my first Leuchtturm (I bought a cheap pocket Leuchtturm in Austria to test out), so I had an idea what I was getting into. I was blown away by the paper quality. I was assuming I'd just use gel pens with this (Pentel Energel 0.5 MM - best gel pen I have tried, especially for lefties due to quick drying) but it works well with my fountain pens (have tried a Maple Wood Vanishing Point M & Pelikan M105 EF so can't speak to wider western nibs). Since it works well enough with my fountain pens that checks off one of the top points on my requirements lists for notebooks. Now, the size. The size is important to me. I use this at work, so I didn't want it to be unwieldy when walking around campus. In fact, it's the same size as my work laptop (a Lenovo T430S) so walking around with this is no issue. It's nice enough to bring to meetings, though I do bring my Apica CD A5 to meetings i know will be crowded (this just won't fit on a table with my laptop at the same time). The size is a huge benefit to how much I can fit on a page. I work in sourcing so I take a lot of notes on one page for one factory. In an A5 notebook I would have to have my notes spread out and use post it notes to denote which factory is on which page. With this, though, I just enter in the factory name in the title area provided, put the name in the table of contents, and then whenever I need to add additional notes to a factory I can enter it in either my original page or the one adjacent to it (which I keep blank). This makes my life much easier when going back and referencing notes from past meetings, emails, or conference calls. This brings me to my next point - the layout. The layout is really second to none. I love graph paper, and this is the only graph paper of sufficient quality I have found that has a date and title space at the top. There is even plenty of space in the margins for small notes, phone numbers, or post its. The table of contents pages provide 90 lines to allow you to reference the whole notebook. The first page of the notebook has room for name and address, which has helped this notebook find its way back to me a couple of times already. The graph lines are a very good cross between visible and subtle. Subtle enough that I can easily write with thin pencil and not have trouble with the lines getting in the way, but visible enough that they help me plot out my notes. It's a cross between light gray and light blue. The paper is of high quality, as I have mentioned before, and it is of a creme/ivory color. I prefer a bright white, because i mostly write with blue, but this color is perfectly fine. My one critique (and I'm sorry you had to come this far down to find it if that's all you came to this review for) is the construction quality. The front and back covers are large, so naturally there's going to be some flex, but they do feel thinner than the typical Moleskine or Rhodia hardcover. I would very, very gladly pay $5 more for this notebook to get Rhodia-quality hardcover front and back. The binding is top notch, there's a little page marker, so everything else is great. Just the front and back cover could be better. With that said, though, I will be buying this again no question. My high quality standards aside, this is the perfect large size notebook. The Leuchtturm layout just seals the deal - everything is well thought out and the page layout is superb. I haven't found another brand that does it like Leuchtturm. If they could up the quality of the front and back covers this would be my go-to notebook, no matter the size. Final verdict - you won't find a better large-size notebook, no matter the price. The fact that this is reasonably priced just makes it a no-brainer. If they could improve the quality of the front and back covers, which are a little flimsy, this would be my go-to notebook for work (even over my Apica CD Premium A5). The Leuchtturm layout is fantastic - if you haven't seen it yet, you need to get a Leuchtturm to see. Just keep in mind that the Master notebook is the only one that has good enough paper to really withstand any fountain pen above a F.

Super Notizbuch für Vielnotierer
Einfach Klasse!

Great bullet journal
Thought I'd spend a little more for something of higher quality. The dots are actually the same measurement apart (unlike others I had previously purchased!). Only thing I don't like is that it doesn't lie flat on the desk.
