Metapen Pencil A11 for iPad 2018-2026, (Quick Button), 0.1mm Pixel Precise

In my opinion, this is an absolutely amazing find - it does almost everything a normal apple pencil would do for a fraction of the cost. The shortcut button is easily accessible, and its got a comfortable grip.The pencil comes with extra tips, which are required a bit quicker if you are to use a paper screen cover as the tip will get scratched a bit and turn silver after a while, but it still works perfectly. The charging time is quite fast and the battery life is better than I expected. I would recommend putting up a battery widget on your iPad as you can't tell the exact battery left from just the pen.

I’m honestly so impressed with the MetaPen A11! It’s super easy to use straight out of the box, and the performance feels really smooth and responsive. It glides effortlessly across the screen, especially when paired with a paper-like screen protector, it genuinely gives that satisfying “real writing” feel.One thing I really appreciate is that it comes with replacement tips, which adds extra value and makes it feel like a long-term investment rather than something disposable. The build quality feels solid and well made, not cheap at all.For the price…it’s incredible. It does exactly what you need without having to spend loads on more expensive alternatives. I’ve been using it for note-taking, browsing, and general use, and it keeps up perfectly.If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable pen for your tablet/ipad that performs well and feels great to use, I would definitely recommend this one!

I wanted a second pencil to use with the 2014 iPad Air M2, and the A11 proved a good option.It can work with and without bluetooth connectivity, does all the basic pencil writing/editing, and feels and functions well. With bluetooth switched on, its button can be defined with three functions and can be defined to work with specific apps such as procreate.The limitations include only USBC charging, so magnetic attachment to iPad M2, and being a little thicker than pencil pro. The company advised that they have no plans to produce a pen similar to the pro because of confidentiality with the new apple design.The A11 does not work on bluetooth at the same time as the pencil pro, and it just stops working when the pro is connected. However, switching off bluetooth will allow A11 basic functionality but not anything defined with its button. You can forget the pro on bluetooth to allow A11 full functionality, or if the pro is not in the vicinity then A11 will just kick in as the pro will not connect.I also tested the A8 Air at the time, but returned it and kept the A11. The former does only the basic functionality as the A11 so no bluetooth connectivity, but allows a much longer battery life (20 hours vs 8). It is also a third lighter than the A11.Overall, The A11 is a good substitute to the pro at a lower cost (£16 in the sale when purchased). I would have been more encouraged to get the Apple USB pencil if the A11 price was the full £32.

The pen works well and it’s easy to use

I own an Apple Pencil pro which I use together with my iPad. My granddaughter was using this more than me and was very happy to use my iPad and pencil instead of her own iPad. I decided to go ahead and buy one of the Metapen A11 for use with her own iPad. She was delighted with her new toy and I got my iPad and pencil back. She used her pencil none stop and became proficient with her new toy, drawing apps and the Wellnote app that is included with the package.However, one morning the pencil failed to connect to her iPad. I ran all the necessary steps to rectify and fix the issue to no avail. I also tried another iPad just in case of Bluetooth or connection issues on my granddaughters, still the pencil would not connect.I contacted Metapen support via WhatsApp and was connected to a support agent named Rosie. She asked the necessary information and rectification steps, but still the pencil refused to connect to either iPad. Rosie offered a refund or replacement pencil. I opted for a replacement which I received in 2 days. We opted for the A8 which needs no Bluetooth connection. I have connected and tried 3 different iPads with no issues at all. The pencil I would say is as accurate as my expensive Apple Pencil for a fraction of the price. I have yet to give my granddaughter her replacement as she is away on vacation. I am sure she will be absolutely thrilled to receive her new pencil. I would like to express my appreciation to the Metapen support team and Rosie in particular for a seamless and stress-free support and resolve to our issue. Given this type of support, and quality of the product, I would have no hesitation in recommending this company to others. Excellent communication and service. An Apple Pencil generally costs between £64 and £129 in the UK, depending on the model and the retailer. This one works great on my partners iPad, the only thing was the constant click, click clicking was driving me round the bend 😀 so I bought her these, which simply screw onto the pen and then .... "low, it fell upon the earth, silence once again resonated in the house," totally recommend these little beauties for a quiet life.It doesn't affect how the pen works, the only thing that's different is the noise level.

This pen tip showed so much potential. When I installed it I initially felt like it was reasonable quality. When drawing in procreate I found the thinness of the tip allowed me to draw more precisely. But after completing one sketch and starting the outline of the next it stopped working precisely. When I examined the tip, it had bent and was easily manipulated, so I assume it just wore out….very very quickly. So they have been returned.

This pencil works well with my iPad. It pairs quickly when turned on (although sometimes it fails and has to be restarted). Writing and general use is fine for me.My main issue is the irritating position of the button to use shortcuts. It’s always a fumble to find it (it’s located 1/3 of the way up from the tip and sits almost flush with the pencil body). I don’t know why it was decided to position it there instead of on top of the pencil end, which would have been much easier. It spoils the overall user experience for me.Battery life is ok, but for heavy users it won’t last long and the lack of wireless charging might also be an issue for you - although it does charge very quickly via usbc cable. There are plenty of these cheaper than Apple alternatives around and I would recommend looking at these before choosing.
