This CPU is very good, providing very smooth and fast PC usage. Even though it's a tad slower than the 4670, I think it's worth going with this one instead if your budget really requires you to save that $20. Hasn't had issues running any games and it scores a CPUmark of around 7500 on Passmark, with single threaded hitting around 2200. I was initially going to get an FX-6300 with a good motherboard and overclock, but found out that even then it still wouldn't match a lower end Intel CPU in terms of single core performance. Which with that FX processor and a good board it would've cost as much as a micro ATX board and this CPU, so it wasn't worth it. I play Arma 3 and single core performance is key as the engine only utilizes two cores then scales. The single core performance of this CPU matches a stock clocked i7-3970X, which I find impressive.The bottom line, it's a superb mid-range CPU even with the lack of overclocking, and the stock cooler indeed works fine. I was a bit worried about the heat problems with Haswell, but the stock cooler is not having any issues. Pair this with a decent micro ATX board and you'll have yourself a powerful machine for a low price.Also, a tip for anyone having issues installing the CPU cooler, you turn the knobs counter-clockwise to pull the pins out of the spreaders, then you fit the cooler over the holes and then push down on them on opposite sides so that the pins fit in the spreaders securely. After this is done the cooler shouldn't move at all.

I go to upgrade memory (had 16Gb, upgrading to 32Gb), and I get the bug.So, I've been investigating other CPUs for my LGA-1150 socketed motherboard. I thought about the i7-series, and had to come over to this CPU, which is the one I bought way back in 2014 and is presently in my system.It's been a workhorse. I do semi-pro photography processing on my machine, and it's held up well and I've had no complaints about performance .. now I am looking at processing 4k video and thought maybe it's time to upgrade my CPU. I wanted to stick to the motherboard I have, so I'd need to buy an i7 that fits an LGA-1150 socket, and there are some out there .. I think the money would be better spent on an upgraded GPU, though, since most video processing software makes use of a GPU.I wanted to just comment and say that my CPU, this trusty old i5, has been busy for six years now, faithfully enabling me to process whatever it is I need it for .. great processor.

I was in a quandary with regard to a CPU when I decided to replace a dead motherboard. I looked at Intel Core i7 CPUs but decided that was more speed and performance I really needed. I'm not a gamer and not a power user; so the Core i5 looked like a better investment. But the Core i5 4670 cost almost as much as the Core i7 processors. So, I went with this CPU (a little cheaper without a huge hit on performance), hoping it would be good enough for my modest computer use. It was! I installed it on my new ASRock motherboard and it performed plenty fast enough to do what I want. It was excellent up until I greedily put another 8Gb of DDR3 memory in my motherboard and the motherboard died. I've RMA'ed the motherboard to ASRock and am waiting for a replacement board. I look forward to getting another motherboard and putting my system back together. I hope my computing needs don't grow a lot over the next 4-6 years; so I can continue to get good usage out of the i5-4570 CPU!

This new Haswell chip is adequate for anyone wanting to build an intel based computer that can run games, word processors, cad programs, and anything else you throw at it. It has a base clock of 3.2 ghz but it will boost up to 3.6 ghz if it needs to. Additionally, the price per performance ratio is actually better than the 4670, making it a better value overall (especially when the 4670 is only marginally faster on all benchmark tests than this thing). If you don't overclock due to the reliability concerns, this is the processor to get.

I selected this CPU for a gaming rig. I needed something future proof to make sure it doesn't bottleneck any GPU I place in there. tested it with a GTX 770 which is equivalent to the GTX 680. ran benchmarks on 1080p and got almost the same results I got from i5 4670k (no overclocking in both tests). no need to OC nor try to exceed the capabilities of this CPU. I was planning to get an i5 4670k + after market cooler + Z87 mobo. then I researched some benchmarks and realised there is no need to go for an expensive CPU while the graphics are all in the GPU. so I skipped the cooler, downgraded to this CPU and downgraded the mobo choise to B85. this saved my $ 80 which was invested in upgrading the GPU and thus achiving an excellent performance.if you plan to play games on a single monitor at 1080 res or even at 1440 res then you're looking for a GPU of the GTX 760 tier or HD 7870 XT or even the higher tier such as GTX 770 or HD 7970 then this CPU is the right choice for you. however, if you plan to go even higher or to SLI, then I guess you'd be better off with an i5 4670k (or i7 depending on your target res+FPS and required GPU setup for the job) + Z87 board + after market cooler in that case. hence that overclocking will require you to buy a higher watt PSU which might add up more bucks to the budget. I believe core i5-4570 @ 3.2GHz is the best value in i5 range. With turbo boost it goes to 3.8GHz. This is fine for me. The system I am using this in is fast and I am happy. The temp is around 50C at reasonable load and this is very good. Since it is locked so BIOS will not OC it much. But for the sake of curiosity I would do it later. I expect 200MHz or so OC leverage.Full five stars to this processor from Intel.

Before I bought this intel cpu, I was using a fx6100, good as it was, the fx6100 failed at newer end games, towards the middle of 2017.I bought this in january of 2018, I used a gigabyte mobo h81ms.Even though this has low clock speed, it'll reach 3.4ghz or 3.6ghz with the right settings on some board brands.I wouldn't use this directly for main streaming and gaming 24/7, desktop productivity is pretty good.However having multiple apps and what not going on, it'll hiccup and choke from time to time.Over all its done a wonderful job for a whole year straight with no issues.If you're on a tight budget and want to get past amd am3+ line up and partially their am4 line up.This would be the way to go for the time being until you can afford to pay for more newer expensive components.

Intel a fait un bon boulot avec la plateforme Haswell, et l'i5 en profite bien.- La partie graphique est très loin devant ce qui se faisait avant en termes de GPU intégré. En utilisation bureautique, traitement vidéo ou imagerie numérique, elle fait très bien l'affaire. Elle permet également de jouer à des jeux récents sans rougir, mais bien entendu on lui préfèrera un GPU Nvidia ou AMD/ATI pour pousser les jeux en fullHD et dans les détails.- La consommation du système est excellente- La boite contient tout ce qu'il faut pour une installation directe sur un socket 1150: le ventilateur fourni est de bonne facture et de la pâte thermique y est déjà apposée. Cela suffit largement pour une configuration standard.À conseiller les yeux fermés

Budget type cpu for older systems ... (But probably try getting a up-to-date system, cuz these older ones r cash hungry)
