Only issue I have it waste when filling from gas I use a swan cigarette lighter can and either I don’t have the right nozzle or the fill adapter on iron is not good but this is a minor gripe Positives Hets hot and does so fast tip has good mass and cad indecent size jobs with ease I wanted to make some cables up for a Battery Pack with some decent diagnosable and some XT90 connectors the USB charged electric iron failed miserably just made everything hot and no flow, when I used the Draper job was easy There are cheaper alternatives but the draper has replacement tips and other named brands are much more expensive so this fell right in the sweet spot Starts easily and fast to fill despite some gas’s leaking while filling just fill till it starts leaking and leave it there, nice and small and the cap is good for protection when tip is hot 🔥 Recommended

Good product for those emergency jobs. Dont buy this is you need to do alot of soldering. I found that the tip doesn't really get hot enough and it doesn't hold to much gas so runs out quickly after soldering one wire. It's a good product to have incase you run out of options and dont have access to a plug. And it's good value for money. But I'd suggest spend 50quid on a UY CHAN Upgraded TS80 9V if you can, which u can use with a usb to any portable battery

Having received this Draper Butane powered soldering iron in the post this morning, I wasted no time in trying it out, I first tried filling it up with gas but soon realised it would be easier to remove it from the packaging. This done I moved the control to the center position and pressed the red button and got the expected click, I then soon learnt that touching the tip to find out if it was hot wasn't the most educated thing to do, so take my tip and don't do it, it will be hot. After bathing my finger under the cold tap and then tinning the tip I did everything I needed to do with it and found it surprisingly easy and comfortable to use. I must say I found the time needed for the heat up to be VERY short. How long it will last, I suppose depends on how it is used and looked after. New tips are available and you can get them from Amazon, Ebay and I do know that "PVRDirect.co.uk" also have them and they are very cheap but the postage is a little silly so I recommend Amazon or EBay, the part number is "Draper 87382 - Draper Spare Soldering Tip For 78774 - (YGT8)" so if you need to alter the tip for different jobs, you can, the tips just unscrew using a 6.5mm spanner, and for anyone who is interested they are made of brass and not copper as you would expect, presumably to make them last a little longer. So far I'm very pleased with it and hope to be using it for quite a while yet, at the price your paying you should be able to get your moneys worth without any problems. In my opinion a better product than the silverline version so I would recommend this Draper iron. Having now used this iron on quite a few occasions now I can honestly say that I have found it to be reliable and is very capable of doing more jobs than I at first thought it would do. It lights first time, it lasts a long time on one fill (cant say how long, but is long enough). A great little, and very handy iron to have with you. One small point, dont put the cap on, or put it in your pocket until it cools down. Recommended even more than before.

I have spent ages trolling the internet wanting a small, compact gas powered iron to use around the house or out in the car. I have a digital soldering station which is great for any job but not portable and no use when trying to connect LED strips which have been mounted. I wanted a unit with ignition and small enough to hold as a usable soldering iron. I looked at so many, most were junk, almost all were stupidly overpriced. I settled on this mainly because of the combination of auto ignition, brand name and price. I wasn't dissapointed at all, the unit has no fancy case, no useless box of accessories you never need but made out to suggest you do. It arrived in a brown paper bag, it took a few seconds to charge with butane gas and immediately ready to use, heats up to soldering temp in a few seconds and with the auto ignition there is no need to leave it running, but you can do so if preferred. It is easy to regulate temperature, I used it for connecting LED strips so needed very low heat, just enough to melt the solder. It does this with ease and can be turned up to get much hotter which would be needed for thicker wires such as car wiring. Takes up not much more space than a screwdriver in my toolbox, drops into a pocket real easy. Overall, very good quality and excellent value for money.

I thought this little soldering iron would be a great help when working in places where getting power would be difficult and it is, but that alone isn't enough to make it a good product. During my first job, after tinning the tip where the tin went on very easily, I had to make up a cable requiring 5 joints. It says on the instructions that the gas should last 20 minutes but I had to refill after 10 and I was using it on half power most of the time. After filling the iron with gas, there remains a large bubble of air, probably half the tank, that simply will not allow you to completely fill it up. I tried 5 different adapters that came with the gas can and the only one that worked was the red pipe with no adapter on it. After googling the problem, I tried everything suggested and still it wouldn't fill all the way up. The first 2 joints went fine but on the third one, the tip wouldn't accept any more tin apart from in one big blob on the end. Then at some point on the 4th joint, the tip started to disintegrate and by the end of the job, it had a large scar running down from the tip. So I thought perhaps the tip that came with it was no good, so I tried to find replacement tips on Amazon, eBay and generally on the web, without much success. The one listed on Amazon are permanently out of stock, there were none on ebay and I only found one place on the web that said they had them in stock. I ordered them a week ago on 3 day delivery and they still haven't arrived. So now I have a cute little gas soldering iron that is of no use at all - £18.95 not well spent, it's a shame I couldn't give it zero stars.

Before buying this soldering iron I read the reviews provided by others and was happy to proceed with the purchase. When it arrived it was packed very well and it emerged from the packing just as if it had been taken off the production line. After a day or two the gas arrived and it was able to be filled and tried. All I can say is that it acted just like my old soldering iron, but without the trailing cable. This lack of a cable gave me a great deal of freedom, I now take the iron to the work rather than bring the work to a handy electric socket into which the the old iron was plugged. Ok, I agree that the flame spluttered but this is normal because of the high amount of water produced when the gas is burnt, and there is nothing that can be done about this. Nevertheless the iron remained hot and completed the job, maybe a bit quicker than my old iron, therefore, I was happy. As another reviewer states it is worthwhile letting the iron cool down before putting it away. This is, as far as I am concerned, this is the only downside and am prepared to put up with this if only for the convenience it provides. All in all, I am very happy with this gas soldering iron, and I did have a number of misgivings before it arrived, but they all disappeared when it was first used.

Seemed ok at first but after a few uses, I realised the gas runs out quite quickly and needs topping up. Otherwise ok.

This is a very useful tool but time has taken it's toll on it (2 years or so of occasional use before problems appeared) and now it appears to leak gas when left for a week or so and it can hardly get the catalyst burning now by it's self and needs the assistance of an external lighter to get it going. Once burning it is very good and has the power behind it to heat up even quite large wires and connections. The light weight, lack of a cable and small size means it is really easy to use. Butane is very cheap so it is cheap to run. Still recommended but keep a bottle of gas not far away...

er ist das Geld Wert. Ich finde ihn sehr handlich, heizt sehr schnell auf. Habe ihn nach dem Kauf fast Wöchentlich ein paar Stunden im Einsatz.
