50mm Double Long Throw Gate Lock 5 Keys Garden Locking Both Sides

Good lock easy to fit

After trying several options for our backyard porch door I am extremely pleased with this double sided lock. It is heavy, of good quality, slides well and leaves a natural sense of security. For us the best feature is that it can lock from both sides. The lock is of Chinese manufacture in and comes in a plain cardboard box, pre-supplied with its required solid screws and a backside brass cover plate. Importantly the lock comes with a set of 5 keys, so that there is a spare one for most family members. The lock requires some skill and tools to install. Most importantly, unless you are replacing and exciting hole-lock, you’ll need an appropriate sized hole drill (26 mm) and a strong drill. But also a plain slotted screw driver. And a smaller Philips tipped screwdriver for the cover plate. I already bought a hole drill set on Amazon a few years ago and this now came in very handy. It took me less than half an hour to put the lock in place. The hardest part and most-time consuming part is taking measures for the lock hole and making sure the bar slides in to its U-shaped buckle with ease. Especially for the lock hole and drill holes it would have been helpful if a paper ‘pattern mask’ with the correct measures was included so that you could draw the pattern on your door before drilling - given that the lock cylinder sticks out at both sides of the lock, you can’t easily place it on the door and make drill marks. I’m a bit worried that over time the buckle may not fit the bar that well as the porch door or fence might start to move a few mm’s due to weather, wear and rain. So it would have been better if the buckle didn’t fit it as tightly as it does right now - there is only 1 mm of space around it. And would have preferred it if a wider alternative buckle was included. But would this problem occur over time, I think I can address it with not too many complications. Aside from that, the only other very small downsides are the large screws; i.) the slots on the screw heads are irregular, leaving a slightly less than perfect impression when all in place, and ii.) after just one rain shower they showed some rust. But given the price, the overall quality and appearance of the lock I would still hand it five stars. It’s simply a very sturdy nicely made lock.

I bought the lock to replace a simple bolt on our house side gate which had functioned perfectly for years but only allowed access from the inside. I wanted to be able to open the gate from the outside. The lock itself is extremely well made and strong. I used a 26mm flat bit as recommended to make the hole; there is no room for error with this. The lock cylinder is a tight fit in the hole and it was lucky that I had used a small spirit level while drilling to ensure the hole was absolutely level. The large screws supplied are strong with square heads but the slots are a little on the shallow side and it is essential to use a well-fitting screwdriver or bit. I would have preferred hex headed screws so that a small socket could have been used. My only real concern is that, although the product description says "Heavy Duty Elongated Keep to Compensate Gate Sag" there is actually very little room for vertical movement and I am sure I am going to have trouble as the gate moves up and down depending on the weather. Why on earth couldn't the keep have been made with a decent amount of room for manoeuvre? 15-20mm of vertical space beyond the height of the bolt would have been better. However, apart from that caveat the product is really well made, not too difficult to fit and the provision of 5 keys is really excellent, so I am happy to give it at least 4 stars.

Absolutely amazing product. Robust and strong materials used in the manufacture of this item, which gives confidence in the use of the lock. I feel safe with this lock on now, much more than i did before. Everything you need is included in the box, and I'd highly recommend it 👌🏼💯

Perfect for the job. Good value for the money

The lock itself is decent enough and the instructions are fine, although a template would be nice to align the lock as would the drill bit you need as it isnt a standard 25mm size. However the reason for the loss of 2 stars is who the hell is still putting slotted screws in packaging. You won't be able to easily use a powered drill to fix them in place so as a result I had to swap them out for cross head screws. Can't believe anyone thinks flat head screws are the best solution

This is the third lock I have bought for 3 gates. I'm very happy with the locks but not so sure about the bolts supplied. I use coach bolts through the gate as I feel they are a stronger option. No complaints about the lock it's self. Just keep it well lubricated. Easy to fit, the key on each side means we can use it on entry/exit gates to our property.

This lock is exactly what I needed. I looked "everywhere" for a double sided gate lock with keys for both sides. Happy I found thus for such a bargain price. There are SIX keys! And it looks fine as well (to me) and works smoothly. Installation was a non-issue.

Gebruikt als slot op de poort. In het begin werkte het slot perfect. Maar na een tijdje begon de cilinder te wiebelen. En nu passen de sleutels er allemaal niet meer in. Zelfs WD40 lost het probleem niet op. De garantie is volgens de verkoper toevallig net verlopen.
