Absolutely First Rate!
The frame looks flimsy when you take it out of the box and the jelly bag looks small. I thought I'd wasted my money, but -- generally speaking -- I trust Tala jam-making products, so I gave it a go. WELL ... what a surprise! The legs, that look so spindly, are actually perfect to rig on to bowls of various sizes -- I perch mine of a 24cm-wide bowl. It works beautifully. How? The weight of the fruit in the jelly bag provides the ballast and makes the legs sturdy -- weighs the legs down. It works! The legs also can be wangled to perch properly on the bowl. As for the bag, it looks small, but I just cooked down 2 kilos of fruit in two litres of water -- the bag held all the solids perfectly for straining. The bag seems to expand or stretch downwards as you put more fruit in. I would NOT advise, however, straining more than 2 kilos of fruit in the bag at once. That's the limit, I reckon. The bag is sturdy -- a fine mesh nylon. Perfect for jams and jellies. Excellent value for money, too -- at under a fiver!

Simple, folds away, works!
Only have 4stars as it is on the smallish side. I am very old jelly maker (!?) and used to use a pillowcase suspended between stool legs. However this is enough for 3 standard jam jars. You might get up 6. Easy to assemble fits snuggly on pyrex bowl and washes easily. Disassemble and put back in box for storage. It feels a bit lightweight but the stewed fruit in bag gives loads of stability

Exactly as described
Perfect for the making of jams st home. Very good quality. Straining kit is well constructed using fine mesh for filtering. 10/10.

Excellent for Jam Jelly and Syrup Making But Also Cheese
This product is excellent. I originally bought it for cheesemaking, to strain the whey from curds. I love making cheese, but hated the messiness of using muslin, and thought there really must be an easier way of doing this. I searched online and found this product and wondered if it might also work for cheese making. Since the price was so reasonable, I figured it would be worth a try. It is, it turns out, superb for cheese making. I regularly make cream cheese, mozzarella and ricotta and this product makes it so much easier. I can just place this over a large bowl, a saucepan also works, and leave it to drain. I now feel much more inclined to make cheese then I did before, because I am not dreading dealing with muslin cloths and having them hanging over the sink etc, like I did before. This is a much more practical and effective solution. Not only does it work well, but I find I get more cheese as an end result because it isn't getting stuck to the muslin. I have also since used this many many times for jam, jelly and syrup making, to strain the fruit for these products. It is also excellent for all of these things. This product is also very versatile. For rosehip syrup for example, where a triple strainer and multiple strainings are required because of the irritant hairs in rosehips, I just place two muslin sheets inside the existing bag, as shown in the photos, and this works well. It is infinitely easier than trying to do it with muslin sheets alone, and the stand can be left overnight leaving the juices to strain and no effort is required whatsoever. The bag is hard wearing and easy to clean with just hot water. I've used it probably fifty or so times now, and it's still looking good. This product also comes in a useful box you can store it in when not in use, which takes up very little room. I came back here to buy another one of these, not because there is anything wrong with the first one, but because I find it so useful I want to have another in case they ever stop making them. I noticed some of the negative reviews, some stating that this product could not be used for jam making etc, so felt I should absolutely disagree with this and add my experiences. This product is excellent for jam, jelly and syrup making, and as an added bonus is superb for cheese making. I'd highly recommend it and have just bought another. It's probably one of the most useful kitchen products I own.

It's ok, but not great.
The main problem is that the legs are very stiff and springy which severely limits the diameter and type of bowl it will sit securely on. Wasn't keen on the way the bag attaches, or the coarseness of the mesh. I ended up with a very cloudy jelly. I think you need much finer mesh for a clear jelly. Still it did what I wanted which was to stop blackberry seeds from getting into the finished jelly. The result was delicious so from that point of view it did what I wanted, and it was inexpensive, so if it's your first go at straining fruit this might not be a bad place to start.

Handy, not huge capacity, but comes apart for storage
This is smaller than I expected, it's 30 cm high and 15.5 cm diameter. To get the negatives out the way: the feet don't all face outwards when the legs are fully screwed in. I noticed another reviewer complained about this, and I think it's a packing mistake: the wrong legs have been packed, 2 of same sort, instead of 3 different ones.. I could return it, but can't be bothered. I just don't screw one of them in fully, which makes it slightly less stable, but not critically so. I am not using this for jam making, but to assist horticultural purposes: straining fertiliser solution, as I use organic (home made) fertiliser additives, which can clog a sprayer or water pump. Because I'm straining liquids, the bag that came with the stand is not suitable for my purposes, as not fine enough. I would say medium to coarse grade, at a guess. Ok for jam, but less good for liquids. I would think that it's borderline for making yoghurt/cheese and definitely too coarse for nut milk etc. So have bought a separate bag to use with the stand, and found one that fits perfectly around the top of the stand - Therpin 75 Micron Nylon Straining Bag, 22 x 32 cm - which is also far longer, so holds a lot more. The bag that came with the stand is quite small, could easily be longer, although the elasticated rim is a nice touch. The other bag I bought has a tie string, but as it just fits in diameter, I don't need to tighten it. The separate bag doubled the cost, but think the stand alone worth the price as will last forever and makes things so much easier. I would recommend, bearing in mind you might need a different bag depending on your purpose.

Good product but could be more stable
This is good - I've now bought my 2nd. The elastic is thick so the bag is very safe when you attach it to the ring and the legs screw in firmly too. The only negative is the 'feet' which are made from a kink in the leg and mean it can be a bit unstable if you're not careful. It needs to be on a flat surface /flat bottomed receptacle and you can't move as it's a bit shakey to move it once it's full. So I tend to place inside a clean bucket where I can leave it overnight and then steady with my hand while I'm filling. Once you're used to it it's fine but I had a couple of topples at first when I did it over a bowl (curved sides) and also when I tried to move it. Easy to clean and packs back flat which is really useful for storage
