OXO Good Grips Box Grater

Really pleased with this OXO box grater. It feels sturdy and well made, with a comfortable grip that makes it much easier and safer to use. The different grating sides are very useful, and I particularly like the container underneath as it catches the grated food and keeps everything much tidier. I’ve used it for cheese and lemon zest and it works really well. It’s a definite improvement on my old grater and I’m very happy with my purchase.

Good sharp grater. The larger holes a bigger than old standard ones for cheese but this makes little difference really. What I was after was smaller holes that were not too small to make it easier to grate carrots to a suitable grade size for cakes, and so this grater ticks all the boxes, especially with handy box to store extra for cooking or snacks.

If you’ve used a box grater before then you know what to expect, but as with all OXO products the quality is great, and it feels comfortable to hold (often an issue with box graters in my experience). Works perfectly and no issues. The reason for 4 stars? I don’t care much for the plastic bit on the bottom which catches whatever you’re grating. It’s plastic so it slips over your kitchen counter, and it can come away from the grater sometimes which can be annoying. Of course I can just remove it and use it without (which I do!), so my gripe is either 1) please improve this part, or 2) allow me to buy the grater without the bottom. Either way I’d recommend it.

Great, had it a year and it's caused me no problems, easy to clean, does what I would like it to do. Grates cheese, carrot and everything else I throw at it really well. Also I love the handle and non-slide bit at the bottom.

Great grater. Lots of different sizes of grating/ slicing. The grater is durable, dishwasher safe and doesn't make a mess with the box attachment. We all know what we are getting with OXO Good Grips and that is a quality product at a reasonable price.

This a typical OXO product - well designed well constructed and very safe to use. It has good options for grating size and is easy to clean via the dishwasher. The collection box works with very little spillage.

On the positive side, the steel gauge is decent and doesn't flex under pressure. The handle is comfortable and easy to grip and hold the grater in position. And it grates satisfactorily. On the negative side, the grater comes with a flimsy hard plastic cover for the little box that fits below which is so fragile it arrived broken and was the first thing to go in the bin. Having persevered with the little box beneath the grater and watched a quarter of whatever is being grated fall on the outside of the grater rather than inside and into the box, i really couldn't see the point of grating with the box installed. And like every decent household having a cupboard full of robust storage boxes, the box was the second thing to go into the bin. The grater comes with a rubber ring which is moulded to the bottom profile of the grater which comes off easily enough but is quite tricky to reinstall. Since it clogs up with anything being grated, it is something of a pain and is the third thing to go into the bin. As for the grater itself, it does the job but being four side and tapering towards the top, it is not possible to push ones hand with a dish cloth all the way to the top to clean inside - too small. So whilst our last basic grater lasted 20 years plus and was still grating satisfactorily until the sides parted company from the wire support at the bottom, I fear this one may not survive anywhere close to this out of pure frustration. Next time I will buy a simple grater at half the price. or go up market.

This grater makes quick work of grating cheese, carrots ginger & potatoes (for potato pancakes). I use a mandoline for julienne and slicing, but have been using a flat grater for carrots and cheese. When I went to a friend's home for dinner recently, I helped her prep using this grater. I came home and ordered one for myself the next day. The grater is sharp and the handhold is solid. There is a rubber/silicone rim around the bottom that keeps the grater steady and in place while using. I have not yet found a need or reason to use the lidded container, but it stows itself neatly up in the bottom of the grater and does not protrude (as pictured) for storage. One quirk I did notice however, is that although the storage container fits two ways on the bottom of the grater (either as a catch basin, or up inside for storage), the lid of the container only fits the container. I initially thought the lid would also fit on the bottom of the grater, but it does not. It would have been great to be able to snap the lid onto the bottom of the grater so contents would be contained in the grater itself. It would be easy then, to just pick up the grater by the handle and transport the grated contents to saute pan or other pot. Despite my disappointment in not being able to do so, I am still very happy with this and would recommend completely.

works great and well made

Rallador que cumple perfectamente su cometido, facilismo de usar y consistente, se puede rayas algo considerablemente duro con una relativa facilidad. Recomiendo su compra.

Sharp, relatively compact, and easy to use. Sometimes simple designs are the best. I no longer use multiple microplanes, just replaced with the classic simple box grater. The little plastic storage container makes it easy to store any excess you might have. It can also be used to measure your desired quantity.
