Youngman 313340 Easiway Aluminium 3-Section Loft Ladder

This item matched our needs perfectly. It is sturdy, easy to fit and operate and was very reasonably priced when purchased. I do not understand the issues that some have expressed with regard to the fitting instructions. I found them extremely clear and straightforward with excellent diagrams and supporting narrative. Maybe some earler criticisms have been heard and addressed as I experienced no installation difficulties or issues whatsoever. Only comment I would make is that the loft hatch securing latch provided is plastic which made me nervous of the potential for future breakage and injury caused by the hatch unexpectedly dropping. Probably low risk but, being a "belt and braces" man, I fitted a second metal "push and click" latch to be safe. Overall a quality product and value for money with everything required to do the job - including hinges for changing hatch to "drop-down" and plastic latch mechanism as previosuly mentioned.

Very happy with this loft ladder. Instructions couldn't be easier to follow. Some parts were a touch fiddly but the instructions as mentioned are clear and concise with plenty of steps to stop any confusion, whereby some products combine the stages and create a proper headache. The only time consuming part is modifying your loft hatch cover to fit the size of the loft hole, as you need the hatch to drop down rather than push up.But the ladders themselves are easy to fit and work well, very light (less than 8kg all in when delivered) and handy. Only slight niggles I would point out is that being so light, if you're a heavier person it may feel a little flimsy, and the loft catch isn't the best quality, only being made of plastic. However, as far as value for money goes... This is an all round winner.

Fairly easy to install, just follow the instructions on the back of the packaging. I installed this by myself, and it took about an hour to do. Read the instructions. Do the install bit by bit and it will go up just fine. Need to check a few things before you start. The height this ladder fits is floor to loft floor, not ceiling, so it will fit the maximum height in the description, just measure accurately. All the bits are there to fix the ladder, plus a kit to convert an existing push up loft hatch. I had already fitted a drop down hatch so these were not necessary. You will need this ladder and another one to install the ladder, as it will not be fixed until you get into the loft to attach it securely. So one last time I carted the old ladder up stairs to install the new permanent one. Never again will that happen. You will need a square edge to attach the anchor brackets to the edge of the loft opening, and it must be sturdy wood i.e. a joist. Also the swinging arm to guide the ladder up and down should have one too, but if , like me, you have already boarded the loft out, this will not be possible unless you take up the floor. I have used some good strong meaty screws to attach this bit. All in all a very good product. Feels a little flimsy but takes a lot of weight. Is very lightweight and easy to operate. Just take your time to read the instructions, and gather all the tools you need in advance. It was easy to install once these tips are used.

Fast delivery is always good. After reading what was left of the instructions carefully the ladder was installed within 30 mins. Mind I had no loft hatch to install as I am using it to get access to the roof space in my garage. Seems a great job for the money, time will tell. Back to the instructions...although in theory it's a great idea to have these printed on the reverse side of outer packaging, this is to prone to getting damaged in transport as it did with mine. Some quick tape action got it back together and usable but I think a leaflet or 2 inside the back of accessories would be a better solution. Can be put together and fitted by one person but you do require a stepladder of some sort to start you off. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a value for money loft ladder.

After having used a normal ladder for months this is fabulous and at a great price. Instructions need a bit of studying over a cup of tea initially but I then quite enjoyed fitting it. The first part relates to a loft catch and door, which most of us already have, so skip that bit! The template to position the pivot point didn't work for me, it's easier to do it whilst up in the loft so you can see if the ladder will swing in and out without a problem. Then I had the ladder at full length whilst I made sure of the angle and how to screw it into position. One thing I couldn't make sense of was the pivot arm as it creates a rigid triangle....not to worry as it works really well but any advices on this point appreciated.

This is a fairly good lightweight yet robust loft ladder. It has the added benefit of coming with hinges and catch to allow a drop-down hatch to be fitted, although not the hatch itself. That makes sense, since everyone will have different sized access holes. I made my hatch from 9mm plywood, with a reinforcing strip screwed to the hinge side. The ladder I received had a slight dent in one of the treads, not serious enough to send it back, but annoying. I also had to drill out one of the bolt-holes in the handrail, which had not been fully cut. However the main problem I have with this product is that the pivot arm seems to be the wrong size: when I got to installation instruction 17, and used the pole to "fully stow the ladder", the retainers (I) were pushed off the ladder by the glide/pivot assembly (F). The channels in the side of the ladder very nearly came out of the glide/pivot assembly. This seems to be a design flaw - I now see that a couple of other reviewers have reported that they have had to shorten the pivot arm. This seems to be a pretty fundamental fault in what is otherwise a very good loft ladder.

The most difficult thing about fitting a loft ladder is getting the hatch sorted. I had to switch my loft hatch to accommodate this ladder. Once done fitting the ladder was a breeze. Read the instructions right through BEFORE you start any work. Make sure the height is right before you buy the ladder. The attachments seem fine for the purpose. You are not getting a staircase, but and occasional use loft ladder. It stacks away neatly and does not take up to much space in the loft (again check measurements before purchase). The sliding action makes it very easy to use and it feels reasonable secure. I used the supplied plastic hatch in the end, does a fine job. I would not want to use this ladder if I was overweight. It feels a little flimsy which is why I feel it is for occasional use. Even when carrying heavy weights up and down the loft I'm very careful. Had it for about a year now and no complaints. Overall, great value for money, good price and delivery very quick.

Once I had this installed it was a great, well made and easy to use ladder. Installation is managable with some basic diy skills but you need to follow the instructions very closely and in the exact order to avoid getting to the end and having to go back and change things like I did. It can be installed by one person but an extra pair of hands would help, if nothing else because I had to keep moving my stepladder out of the way from up in the loft so I could extend th new ladder during fitting. Once it is fitted it is easy to pull down and extend no matter your height, and putting it away is easy as it clips firmly into place once put back up. I can't comment on the loft hatch fittings as I didn't use them in the end. Instead of trying to adapt my draughty hatch to open downwards I instead ordered a custom made airtight hatch from Jupiter Blue, and I'm happy I did.

Wir haben lange wegen einer Lösung für unsere Dachluke (75x80cm) nachgedacht. In den Baumärkten gab es keine passende Lösung, da alle angebotenen Leitern und Luken viel zu groß waren. Dann haben wir diese Leiter gesehen. Das Video dazu war schon sehr aussagekräftig, doch wir waren noch skeptisch. Der Einbau war super einfach und der Verschluss für die Dachluke war zu unserer Überraschung auch mit dabei. Wir brauchten nur noch ein passendes Holzbrett nach den Maßen der Luke zurecht schneiden, Verschluss befestigen, FERTIG!!! Die Leiter ist stabil, Schiebevorrichtung funktioniert hervorragend. Wir sind sehr zufrieden mit dieser Lösung!!!

Bad build quality. Some of the parts seemed like used ones

Cuando la compré leí todos los comentarios de personas que decian que era muy complicado montarla y que las instrucciones venían en inglés. Pero por dios si vienen con dibujos y son unos cuantos tornillos, no veo mayor dificultad. Que eso no sea un inconveniente. La escalera viene desmontada en dos piezas grandes y su tornillería. Es fácil de montar, viene un cartón donde te explica los pasos a seguir igual que IKEA, te dá la opción de atornillarla al suelo de tu desván lo cuál es comodo ya que se pliega y se queda arriba sin que la escalera se vea. Después para bajarla incluye una varilla para alcanzarla nuevamente, tirar y se despliega hacia abajo. Los peldaños son estrechos, pero a mi me viene perfecto porque así ocupa menos, y un pasa manos para agarrarte y sentirte más seguro. Puedo recomendarte este producto y que el hecho de montarla no sea un impedimento, es muy fácil. Además que más barata no la vas a encontrar.
