2015 two CD set. The original Broadway cast album of Hamilton, a fusion of hip-hop and pop-driven musical theater, is now available from Atlantic Records. Cast members from the blockbuster new musical Hamilton, which recently opened to widespread critical acclaim at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, began recording their parts for this release in August of this year. This two-disc album was produced by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, founding members of the Grammy-winning hip-hop band, The Roots. Review: One of the best musicals ever made - I am a long-time fan of musicals but I have never come across a musical that I have enjoyed as much as Hamilton. My introduction to this musical was seeing people on social media raving about it, so I decided to give it a shot. I was skeptical at first as I'm not not massively into hip hop and rap and I know little about American history, but the first time I listened to this soundtrack I ended up listening pretty much non-stop all the way through without realising. I was hooked pretty much straight away and I have been listening to this score or parts of it almost daily for weeks. The score is densely packed with fantastic and clever lyrics and at no point are you left guessing about the story. Although the primary genres are definitely hip hop and rap, there are clever nods to other genres such as King George III's love songs to his colony all being styled as British Invasion pop. Thomas Jefferson's introduction song draws from older genres such like soul and boogie-woogie. It's an indication that he's older than Hamilton and has been out of the country and therefore not caught up on the latest trends. There are more subtle and clever nods throughout the production to all sorts of things. You can look up the lyrics on genius.com and get completely lost in all of the notes and references including many by the composer Lin-Manuel Miranda himself. I heard that Hamilton is transferring to the West End in 2017. The Broadway show is sold out for a long time unless you want to pay about $500 upwards for a ticket, so I feel that the well-deserved hype could definitely transfer along with it. Honestly, my only complaint is that this musical is a lot harder to sing along to in the shower than, say, Les Mis. One day I will be able to rap all of "Guns and Ships", I swear! Review: Great cds - Brilliant soundtrack with the original cast

While we are talking, let me offer you some free advice...
There is a thing, it is called The Game. I didn’t know what it was and because no one who played the Game would tell me I became petulant and went to look it up. It seems that those who wouldn’t tell me were, in fact, helping me win the game. Because you see, if you think of the Game, well you lose. It is time for The Game to move over, there is a new one in town and its name is Hamilton. And now I keep losing. I can go for perhaps a few hours without thinking about it if I am lucky. Then something will happen. I will be watching Sleepy Hollow, a slightly meant to be scary, tv series, all about Molach, Purgatory, Headless horsemen, nothing connected to Hamilton right? Nope wrong, you see Ichabod apparently worked with Washington, Franklin et al. Seriously, bam, in the middle of a machine gun firing, with modern settings, Ichabod, getting told off, mentions Washington and all I can think of is “A word”. The Characters go look for a room, suddenly the soundtrack in my head isn’t the one that Foxtv gave it, oh no, its “The room where is happened”. I sigh, resigning myself to having lost again and an afternoon of random sound clips playing through my mind. I actually go do some work, something I am great at procrastinating over, just to see if it will numb me long enough to forget this thing, this Hamilton. And you know what, I win for a while, for several more hours it is silent. Till my fiance turns on a programme, you might know it, called The Good Wife. It is a legal, political drama, rather fun and coming to an end. As ever, in it the major law firm has problems within the Named Partners and there is a possible takeover on the cards. I am really getting into the programme, thinking lots of things about how I would play it out if it were me when one of the main characters, Cary, says to Diane “do you have the vote”? ARGH!!!!!! For goodness sake. At 11:00pm I am now falling of the sofa laughing so hard as I have suddenly shouted out at the tv “You don’t have the votes, you don’t have the votes” and it’s back. Sleep is no saviour either, my dreams are filled of random scenes with Eliza trying to get me to do things, Angelica making me go to London, Hamilton ranting away and I am stuck inside of it all like some mirrored room you can’t escape. Lin-Manuel Miranda! You are the devil Sir. For now you occupy, I will fight for my mind, I will rise up, however I know, You’ll be back. For anyone else, buy this album, but be aware, your life will no longer be your own. Can’t wait for the show to arrive on British shores…

Genauso "Helpless" und "You'll be back" und ein highlight natürlich "The room where it happens" tolle songs die gute Laune bringen.
