Time to change thermal paste but I've lost the align key. Is it proprietary or will any align key work to remove the cooler from mobo

The key is just a ball ended allen key, which you can buy anywhere. That allows you to access the nut at an angle because the cooling fins are in the way.

How often should I change the Thermal Paste?

Every couple of years would be a good pace. Though it depends on the thermal paste quality. I use Arctic MX-4, or Arctic Silver. which allows you to let it there even for three to four years.

How is this cooler packaged from noctua if ordered with an nf-a15 fan? will it all be delivered in a discrete box for security reasons?

Mine was delivered in a normal amazon package with the branded box inside.

Does anyone know if this blocks any of the 8 ram slots on the Asus x399a if i was to use Corsair Vengeance sticks?

I'm using this cooler with Noctua's industrial PWM fans in a push/pull configuration and it doesn’t block anything on the ROG Strix X399-E. I've tested Corsair Vengeance and G.Skill TridentZ sticks and there are no issues with clearance. If needed, you can clip the fan higher up the heatsink to accommodate for taller RAM. For best compatibility, especially with 8 sticks, make sure you’re using Samsung B-die RAM—a lot of Corsair Vengeance sticks aren’t B-die. I switched to B-die TridentZ sticks cos they’re much better and faster for the X399 platform.
