BGS 165 | Repair Kit for Spark Plug Threads | M10 x 1.0 | 5 pcs.

I had rebuilt a motor bike engine but discovered towards the end of the project that the previous owner had cross threaded the spark plug in the aluminium cylinder head. I bought this kit to sort out that little problem. The kit comes with inserts of varying lengths to suit the thread length of the spark plug fitted although I did check the full specification of the spark plug before I ordered so I knew I was getting the right kit. The tap that comes with the set is very sturdy and can obviously be used more than once so it’s in my tool box for future use.

I used this for my chainsaw Sthill MS211C as the old thread had been stripped out and would no longet hold the spark plug. It took around 15 minutes, afterwards I flushed the cylinder head out with petrol to be sure there were no pieces of alloy still there. Put in the new spark plug and after a few pulls was back in business.

Great for quick fix if you know what you are doing.

Used on a chainsaw to repair the spark plug hole. Did it in place instead of removing the head. Worked well

Used this kit on a 125cc Pit Bike for spark plug thread repair, removed the head in about 5 minutes, used cutting/drilling oil while using the tool, screwed the sleeve into the freshly threaded hole and inserted my new sparkplug... Reassembled the engine, gave her a kick and she fired up with no faults! Cheaper than a new head and very easy, just make sure you remove the head as metal can go into the bore and cause other, unwanted damage.

Muy buena solución para reparar la rosca y volver a colocar bien la bujía, recomiendo extraer las virutas con un pequeńo aspirador de mano o con un papel impregnado con un poco de grasa para que se queden adheridas.

Veramente perfetto e semplice da usare, e dopo attenta ricerca su internet ecc ho fatto una cosa che se legge un meccanico ecc si metterebbe le mani nei capelli. Togliendo la vecchia candela dallo scooter, con molta probabilità chi l'aveva tolta precedentemente l'aveva stretta troppo forte rovinando tutto il filetto non riuscendo così a riavvitare né la candela nuova né la candela vecchia. Non avendo la competenza per smontare tutto il blocco motore ho rifilettato col maschio in vendita senza smontare niente. Bhe ho aspettato a recensire e devo dire che è andatp tutto bene. Da specificare che ho soffiato per bene con compressore per far uscire tutti i rimasugli di metallo finiti all interno ed ho controllato con una mini telecamera all interno della camera scoppio. Per adesso è tutto ok continuo a tenere tutto sotto controllo.

My kit has been supplied with a "bottoming tap"- which is different to the pictured tapered tap. As I want to tap threads into a new hole the supplied tap is useless. I've had to purchase a M12 x 1.0 tapered tap to do the thread. Another point to note is the supplied tap measures a slightly larger diameter than the supplied inserts (see a previous 1 star review by another user). So using the supplied tap will result in a loose fitting insert. The M12 x 1.0 mm tapered tap I bought measures at least 0.1mm smaller in overall diameter than the supplied tap (which measures 12.1 to 12.15mm.) The inserts measure the same diameter as the M12 x 1.0mm tap I purchased at 12.0mm.
