History in your hand.
Bought to complete a Roman History montage, this Reproduction Roman Coins Set is ideal for my purposes. They come neatly affixed into a plastic viewing cover which shows the obverse and reverse of each coin. All of the coins are made by WestAir Reproductions and are fair replicas of original Roman coins of the era, but reproduced here in base metal. The largest coin is a Sestertius from the reign of Nero 54-68AD and would have originally been made from Brass as is the second largest coin, a Dupondius, again from the administration under Nero. There is an As from the reign of Antoninus Pius 138-161AD, this too would have originally been a Brass coin. The fourth coin is a "tribute penny" or Denarius from the administration of Augustus 27BC-14AD and would have been made from silver. It is said that a "tribute penny" was the coin handled by Jesus when he is quoted in the Bible as saying, "render to Caesar that which is Caesar's". The fifth coin is a replica of an Aureus from the time of Claudius 41-54AD the original would have been minted in Gold and was issued to proclaim his triumph over Britain. The coins are neatly presented in an attractive booklet with information relative to the period in which the coins were minted and used. This product is suitable as a teaching aid or for coin collector beginners who wish to gain some idea of the size and depictions of the originals.

Gift for friend
Bought this as a Saturnalia gift for a friend who doesn't celebrate Christmas. He opened it early. He was very impressed with the quality for replicas, and glad to add it to his collection of Roman "artifacts".

quite Realistic
I was surprised these reproductions were made from metal and not pewter. They are very close to the originals although a fraction of the price.
