If I could have gone down half a star to four and a half I would have. At first the drive did not show up on my laptop, but as soon as I inserted a CD it did. After looking around for CD ripping programs I settled on one and have ripped well over 30 so far (out of 3,000+!!!!). Some CD special editions even have extra discs that are video/DVD and I have managed to rip these too. I cannot comment on its burning capabilies as I haven't used this facility, and doubt I ever will frankly. So far it is performing well. I occassionally get error messages about importing certain tracks, but that's probably down to the discs rather than this unit, and as far as I can tell, the tracks ripped anyway. My only gripe? In the days when I had a desktop computers with CD/DVD drives in the tower they were fairly sturdy. Laptop CD drives years ago were always flimsy so I expected this to be a bit sturdier, but when the tray is ejected, it does feel very flimsy and I wonder how long it will last with all the ripping I have to do in the future, hence the half point deduction I would like to have given. Overall though, (so far) a very competent piece of kit.

Works well and well put together

Great price and easy to use. Fast copying speeds . Would have been 5 stars as you have to be careful putting discs in and out as the trays quite flimsy due to the thickness,but it's the same for most of them .

Bought to go with my new laptop which doesnt have a disk drive. Simple to set up and use and great compatibility and value for money. Very happy with the quality of it and its a good size.

Wanted this to play and get copies of my old dvds stored onto my PC because dvds do not last forever and this has been great in doing just that. Probably not best around younger children as it's a little flimsy. Wire is quite short as well so bear that in mind and look before you buy. Been great so far though for me though

As expected from a company like HP, this external DVDRW performs well. I am very pleased with it so far.Admittedly I have only been using it for a few weeks but I used it for 4 hours a day burning back ups for dozens of home videos DVD’s. In that time only a few did not burn successfully. which may not have been the fault of this machine. Hopefully, it will last as long as the 15 years my last one lasted, which was another quality make.

A very sleek and slim drive, if you only buy one External Drive, it's this one, no need for set up, reliable laser, straight up and down USB plug and play. Do note, upon first use, it will alert you that the Drive Region is set to 1 (in Europe it is Region 2), drives only have 5 region changes unless modified (not recommended) so make sure you are using the correct region for your discs.

Un pò costoso rispetto ad altri però è HP e ho preferito la garanzia di un marchio di qualità. Funziona bene con i Mac che ho in casa ma, attenzione, se avete dispositivi Apple avete bisogno di un adattatore per collegare il cavo e il lettore esterno. Per il resto funziona in maniera semplice e immediata, intuitivo. Ho provato subito con un CD audio, perfetto e ho testato la funziona di masterizzazione, anch'essa veloce e perfetta. Estetica gradevole, nero, satinato. Ha 4 "gommini" sulla base che rendono stabile l'apparecchio quando viene posto su un piano lavoro. Costosetto ma funzionale e bello da vedere, consigliato.
