It can be used to trace garment patterns but why the 3 stars.
I always trace my papers patterns to size and alter for my petite fit family. I was confused about the opacity of this paper due to mixed reviews in relation to the ability to trace dressmaking patterns through it. A helpful gentleman told me it was not as opaque as dot and cross paper but it wasn't tracing paper either. I have found that the paper itself is transparent enough to see pattern markings but the amount of thick black lines that make up the squares on the paper caused me problems where they collided with pattern lines underneath.. I had particular problems where the lines for different sizes are close together and in order to get the correct line I had to keep lifting up the paper to look underneath and on occasions had to move it. This meant I had to cut a length of this paper off the roll so I could lift it all the way round which in turn meant I used more paper than usual. This paper would be better for pattern tracing if there were less grid lines and they were much lighter. The weight of the paper is flimsy but heavier than most (but not all) bought garment patterns therefore adequate weight for reproducing. Would I buy it again, probably if I was desperate but I prefer the gateway tracing paper which is 60 gms so thicker and which often comes on offer at the Range, with free delivery. Like 20 meters over 1000mm wide at just over nineteen pounds.
