The plates/bowls are a not a bright Artic white but Ivory white just as advised on website, the glaze has a deep shine and is finished to a high quality. It confirms on the back of the crockery that the set is dishwasher,oven and microwave safe but I feel by using crockery of any kind in this capacity does change the appearance of it. This is such a lovely set, and although lucky enough to get it on a sale price it looks far more expensive even for the full price. The quality is first class, glaze is smooth and shiny with no scratches and the design of dinner set is timeless. I cannot wait to see my sisters reaction on receiving this set as I know she will so pleased with it and it will defintely mean she can throw out her old mismatched crockery. Another plus with this set is the place settings selection you get 6 of each dinner plate, small plate, large bowl (pasta etc) and small bowl.
