DEWALT 8 Piece Extreme Flatbit Set, DT7943B-QZ

Although I already had a range of flat bits I bought this set to cover the sizes I didn’t have and more importantly for the case as I find it a pain to have to sort through a bunch of bits looking for the correct size. The bits are of excellent quality and sharpness as most reviews have indicated. The shafts are thick and strong with no danger of bending, even if given some abuse. The case I received was black and yellow rather than yellow and black (see pic), but apart from that identical to the product images. The case comes with some thin clear plastic retainers which support the bits at their tip as well as some black point protectors (which are just a lose fit). I think these are both just transport packaging as with them in place it is awkward to remove the bits so I dispensed with both and they still stay firmly in position during transit from site to site and are much easier to remove. There are several extra positions within the case for extra bits which I will no doubt fill at some point. All together a very good buy at a reasonable price considering the quality.

This is a little bit like re-inventing the wheel. I'm guessing that Dewalt R&D Dpt looked at a spade drill and wondered how they could improve it. And indeed they have. The shank is thicker (as a lot have stated) removing the risk of twisting the bit. All spade drills are made with a front rake clearance to enable the bit to cut. Dewalt have gone better by adding a top rake angle as well. The final touch is a slight chamfer on the corner of the bit. Absolutely fantastic product to use and comes with a very practical and strong case. They work like a dream and if I ever need to replace them it will be with the very same. If I was to be very picky and find fault it would be to say that they are a little difficult to get in and out of the case but it is such a small point and I still have to give it 5 stars.

Really impressed with Dewalt over these bits. These and their Brad Points are the best woodworking bits I've ever used. Very happy with the quality of the construction, these are incredibly strong bits, no flexing at all. Hex shanks are lovely. Tip protectors are a nice touch. The box is good, but I would have preferred bespoke inner mounts, these bits do deserve them. In use they cut through all wood types with equal ease. No splinters, clean cuts. Lovely. I agree with everyone else over these. Very highly recommended, if you're in the market for some flatbits then look no further.

Good quality ... however the point on the larger bits especially the 32mm can allow the hole to wobble horribly as you are drilling it and i'd advise another design or a small hole saw (difficult with a deep hole) - the problem is the ANGLE on the point .. do try hole drilling on a scrap piece of wood first to see the result before wreaking your masterpiece .. the smaller sizes seem fine. Don't forget to put a piece of scrap wood under the hole to be drilled to avoid break-out.

My husband has tried nearly all makes of drill bits, from cheap to expensive, but has never come across better quality and the price is an added bonus. He's an electrician and uses them a lot in his work and finds cheap ones will only last a single use, if he's lucky. These are used over and over again with very little wear in each use. They are weighty and the plastic case they came in, is strong. The only flaw is with the box. When you put the bit back in the box its very difficult as the clips are very tight. My husband has bent the clip slightly and now its much easier.

I bought these when they was on a special offer are used them for the very first time yesterday, the only description I could give you it was like a hot knife going through butter. They was very sharp and made the job very easy. I had many holes to drill through softwood as I said no problems went straight through I was only using a do-it-yourself 18 V drill nothing fancy. They come in a little handy carrying case and tips of the spade tips are covered with a cap To ensure no damage is caused. Well satisfied with this purchase a great deal especially being on a offer

I always seem to have a stack of old spade drills around the workshop but with varying degrees of sharpness so decided on buying this set to place in my grab bag. Not the cheapest but I guess you get what you pay for as they seem to be very good indeed. They are extremely sharp and cut perfectly. Hopefully the good quality case will also mean that no longer will I be able to find every size except the one I need. Cosa dire di un marchio che non ha bisogno di presentazioni. Le punte sono di ottima qualità, usate più volte ed ancora sono affilate come il primo giorno. Costano non poco ma per la resa sicuramente ne vale la pena. Fornite in una bella confezione rigida.

Die Bohrer kamen in einem viel zu großen Karton und in einer viel zu großen Plastikverpackung an, was meiner Meinung nach eine Verschwendung,aber auch das einzige richtige Manko an diesem Produkt ist. Das case an sich ist super und fühlt sich sehr stabil an. Dewalt typisch gibt es diese gummibithaler (keine Ahnung wie ich sie sonst nennen soll), in die man die Bohrer steckt. Obwohl viele diese nicht mögen, stellen sie aufgrund der Länge der Bohrer kein Problem dar. Die Qualität der Bohrer und der Bohrungen selbst ist einfach fantastisch. Die Löcher sind sauber und es ist ein leichtes gewinkelt zu bohren. Definitiv eine Empfehlung, auch für 12 v Schrauber geeignet.
