I've been so impressed with the first Belkin Extension 8 Gang Lead with USB Slots I bought for my home entertainment setup that I knew I had to get a second one for my work studio. I’ve always trusted Belkin when it comes to powering my equipment, and this extension lead doesn’t disappoint.This one is powering all my photographic lighting and motion control filmmaking gear, and it’s been a lifesaver. With enough sockets for everything I need, plus USB slots to charge devices, it makes my setup a lot cleaner and more efficient. What really stands out for me, though, is the added peace of mind that it’s a surge protector. Knowing that my gear is safe from power surges is a big bonus, especially with the added security of Belkin’s connected equipment warranty. If anything gets damaged by an electrical charge while properly connected, Belkin will repair or replace it up to £60,000 when purchased from Amazon—how cool is that?The build quality is solid, and I’m confident that my gear is in good hands. I’ve got no hesitation in recommending this product. If you’re looking for something reliable, safe, and just works every time, this is definitely the one!

I’ve owned the 4-way, 6-way and 8-way versions of this Belkin surge protector (with and without USB ports), and all have been great. They look more premium than most, and if you’re safety-conscious like me, they bring real peace of mind – especially with the different connected device warranty levels depending on which version you choose.The power cables are on the shorter side for what these are designed for. The wider 6 and 8-way models, which have two parallel rows of sockets, are also a bit harder to fit neatly into cable management boxes or desk clamp holders. It’s possible, just fiddly. I eventually found a more niche, net-based setup that works well with my standing desk.There’s also no wall-mount option or mounting holes, which is a shame as it would make placement more flexible and tidy.If you’re upgrading from basic extensions without surge protection or individual power switches, this feels like a real step up in quality and safety – something all extensions should include but often don’t.On the USB 6 and 8-way models, spacing is tight between the two socket rows, so larger power plugs (like external hard drives) can overlap and block adjacent ports. You sometimes need to sacrifice one socket for the sake of the one opposite it.Of the six-plus Belkin surge protectors I’ve owned over the past two years, only one stopped working after about a year. None of my connected devices were affected, and all the plugs and cables still function perfectly. It wasn’t a great sign, but given every other unit has worked flawlessly, I see it as a one-off fault and it hasn’t put me off – I’ve already bought two more in recent days.I am due to send back the affected unit for manufacturer warranty repair or replacement, I will update here to provide a picture of how easy this is / if it is resolved.

The unit was good for what we wanted, if you want a wall mount unit you will have to select it.It will provide the protection you need for your sensitive electronic devices.it is of robust construction and is easy to use, as in you plug one end into the power outlet and you devices into the other. one main switch to operate/isolate everything.The unit also comes with insurance if your kit does become damaged due to a surge.

Deliberate for charging and extending AC power at a reasonable price, with added surge protection and warranty! This product has proven itself to me.The surge protection works, but do not exceed the maximum Wattage of draw capacity.Here is an anecdote from my use with this product. Attached to my Belkin adapter I had a high end computer, drawing approx 1200, with a monitor drawing 200w, and several charters drawing approx 10w. All well within capacity. To test the surge protection, I attached a 2500w base heater, to see if the power draw would cope or crumble. With surge activated, I flicked it on, and it crumpled; the surge protector did it’s job and was fried. The product mo longer useful. However, all of my attached electronics remained in perfect working order.The product itself doesn’t feel of a particularly decent build quality, but the internal components are. The USB charging ports work as expected and charge as routine speed, nothing exciting. The lead itself isn’t particularly long, so I wouldn’t recommend it for any form of length extension. The item is also fairly bulky, but light. So it could be used for travelling, but there are far better dedicated travelling extenders.Overall, a good product that serves its purpose at a reasonable price.

Awesome little gadget to help protect my PC. Don't want that getting fried. It's also really helpful to use as an extension cable and it can deliver a fair amount of power ; I cant tell you exactly how much but it powers my PC and two monitors (one of which is quite beefy.). Me and my friend tried to plug in both of our computers to get them to run off the cable but that didn't work. We both have beefy PCs so it's to be expected. I wouldn't buy this to power a bunch of high powered desktops but for little oddjob bits of equipment this is great.Build quality is good, I've had this for about a year now (at the time of writing) and none of the wire connectors have peeled off. There is also a handy little switch you can use on the extension cable to power it off which is nice. The case of the extension cable is sturdy and the USBs that come with the hub are incredibly useful if you've misplaced a USB plug like I do (all the time).They also claim this device to 'clean up' the electricity that goes through it or whatever. I don't know whether this makes any difference, or if it does 'clean up' the power, I don't have the knowledge to test this.Recommended for the price. I don't recommend the 8 way version though as if you have plugs with extensions that go up or down it can cut off one of your plugs, just buy two 4 way surge protectors.I've never had a surge so far and my PC is still running well so 5/5.

I needed extra sockets with surge protection in our family/TV room. The Belkin extension lead does the job at a good price and I have always found Belkin reliable.

OverallA good surge protector, has lasted me well for the past 2-3 years, one of their prior models saved my devices before. In terms of travel I wouldn't know how well the 6 Plug is as I use it at home. Its a bit physically thick, but not enough to cause an issue in its use.PositivesThe way the 6 plug is built, means it saves a lot of space as its not a ridiculously long extension.x2 USB is handy for deadicated USB devices.The extension switch to turn it on/off is large and stable.2 Light indicators for if the extension is "Protected" and a "Not Grounded" light.Warrenty to back is very generous with a total time of "(5) years warranty period" and "up to £10,000".NegativesIt is a bit large at the USB end where it curves off at the end, nearly didn't fit in my use case.Need to be placed centrally somewhere as of how some plugs wires come out at the bottom, so it cant be placed near a wall unless ur plugs go vertical.Cant use a plug that has the wire come out the top of the plug, as this would block off the opposite socket.

Does the job. The inclusion of the USB ports is useful although would now like to see USB-C ports also. It's not the longest extension you can get but they're long enough for me. I also appreciate that there is an on/off switch so I can easily turn off everything that's plugged in to it when I'm going away and feel safer about leaving.It also just looks nicer than other extension leads
