*** (Updated review from 20/09/17. I've now been using this product on an as required basis for a year. It continues to be of help & I'm certainly happy with it.) ***Due to extreme pain, disability, long term chronic health issues & the awful side effects of the required prescription meds involved; a normal healthy/balanced diet became exceptionally difficult to maintain. Obviously this is FAR from ideal & the situation as a whole was, & still is a concern. I often have to resort to using different types of supplements as substitutes to important dietary requirements which is not a good place to be at all, however, a whey protein powder was the logical option to cover that particular aspect. Importantly, any weight gain also needed to be avoided or better still, a protein supplement that could actively aid weight loss. (Thankfully this product has helped in that regard.) I very quickly settled upon this "PhD nutrition diet whey protein powder" after a short trial period, & after months testing multiple competing products. All things considered it's pretty good stuff. I still have a couple of minor niggles but they're observations more than criticisms to be fair, (many possibly won't even notice them at all)!! I generally mix up a double serving more as a brunch in place of any breakfast or lunch. This keeps me feeling full right through to the evenings & it helps to stop me snacking in the interim. (I really can't comment on it giving any additional energy, etc., my situation as a whole frequently causes significant fatigue making it incredibly difficult to gauge any such benefit.) Ordering via Amazon Prime works out at roughly £15 per kg which is a very good deal. I also purchased a "600ml PhD mix-ball shaker" as part of a package deal with a 2kg tub & it was a lot better than a shaker I already had. (Well worth the deal if you don't already have a shaker, or if you don't own, want or need a blender.)1) Flavour. (Whilst obviously ALWAYS completely subjective), I wasn't expecting anything exceptional following the other products I had previously tried out, (especially with this being more of a "diet" option too). However, it certainly surpassed my expectations & it's not unpleasant at all, (I particularly like the Belgian choc or vanilla flavours). When mixed with water alone the shakes can taste just a little powdery but they're still perfectly acceptable as such. (ALL of the other powders I tried were far worse.) Ergo, I often make my shakes using (50/50) water & semi skimmed milk respectively, or 100% SS milk. Either option using milk completely removes the powdery flavour. Adding in any spare fruits or a touch of Greek yoghurt helps too if you blend.2). Texture. It can also be a little gritty when mixed with water alone, even more so if consumed immediately after mixing. Using milk, or a mix of water & milk (as above) eliminates this issue, however, using milk can make the shakes quite a bit thicker. If mixed with water alone I leave my shakes to stand for 20 mins before consumption which also helps to minimise any grittiness. Again, It's not a huge issue & it remains more than acceptable to me in comparison to competitors products. Inevitably, I get a few tiny lumps that just won't break down when mixing using a shaker too, although they're not large enough to be a problem. Whatever the case, my shakes or blends still go straight down the hatch with no complaints.3). Storage & longevity. The shelf life of the goods I've continually received directly from Amazon have always been a minimum of 22 months, (previous smaller batches sourced elsewhere barely had 4 months shelf life). It's a fresh product that will certainly last if (for example) you're alternating between 2 or more flavours purchased in bulk. A VERY thin external plastic anti-tamper seal is applied but there's no seal under the lids. The 2 kg tubs really are quite sizeable & some may well struggle with sufficient storage space. (I've included a photo of the 2 kg tub next to a universally sized 1 litre bottle for reference should it be of use.) On the plus side, the tubs are incredibly tough & robust. Once empty they're ideal for repeated reuse such as transferring in powders sourced in cheaper refill bags. The lids form a good seal to keep the powder within dry & fresh. A "single serving" sized plastic scoop IS INCLUDED, (you may just need to use something to fish around for it in the tubs as they can become well & truly buried from transit, etc.).All in all, it's a decent product despite some minor observations. To my mind it's a whole lot better than competing products of a similar price & it's certainly as good or better than some more expensive whey powders too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, (just ensure you order a flavour you REALLY like if you're going to buy in bulk as 2 kg can go a long way depending on individual usage). Despite the observations I still rate it 5/5 & I'll certainly be continuing to purchase it.

Nice product

I’m a prime user, so I got this the next day. Slight issue with the delivery though being sent to the wrong address but when I finally got it I followed the instructions on the back and quickly whipped up my very first protein shake in my nutri bullet blenderI used 200ml water instead of 175ml, ONE scoop of powder but it tasted really warm so I added a handful of ice cubes and blended again. Perfect.As for flavour, let’s be honest, it doesn’t taste like a chocolate bar but it satisfies you if you have a strong sweet tooth like me and what with it being filling you wouldn’t want to eat anything else afterwards, which is great.The reason for me buying is because I’m always in a bit of a rush in the mornings and never get a chance to have a proper breakfast, only a few sips of coffee then it’s out the door straight to work. Seeing how quick it is to make this protein shake tonight and how filling it is, this is now my new breakfast!The only major con and big let down, hence why I had to go down a star is because of the packaging. It says on the front that the pack is “resealable” and to cut along the line, so I was expecting one of those grip seal bags, for me to open it and it’s velcro. Sorry, correction, chocolate powder covered velcro that won’t even seal shut. I had some pegs lying around so got 2 and sealed it myself by folding the top down. This shouldn’t have to be done though so I’m quite disappointed.Overall, the product is worth the money, your paying £17.99 (if you have prime as the delivery is free), for a big bag of protein powder, the taste is great, super filling, great as a meal replacement.

I have tried many protein shakes over the years. None of them ever came close to the Myoplex range. Protein shake reviews rely on personal taste factors and one size does not fit all as they say.For years I have bought grass fed natural plain whey isolate powder which is healthier as - no fillers. Issue with that is its grainy texture. I have to use frozen berries or ice to thicken it and get rid of the grainy texture. This means I have to use a blender each time.I decided to try PHD diet whey, I dislike the fillers and fake sugars but I would use it occasionally when no blender available. Firstly this is the first protein powder to mix thick without blender. Best result is with a blender and some sugar free almond milk but ice water in a shaker produces a very nice drink indeed!The only negative I can think of is the slight artificial chocolate taste and it's rather sweet. This is easily fixed by mixing a scoop with a half serving of plain whey isolate powder.I like this shake, it's not perfect but much better if you want a thick filling shake. It mixes very well in porridge and chia pudding.

I can finally subscribe to it on Amazon - It's good value, tastes great, and mixes great! I've now tried PBN Chocolate, and it's much better than Choc & Hazelnut. PBN Chocolate takes the top spot in all categories and is now the one to buy!>> UPDATE (May 2024): I've just tried the new Chocolate Whey Protein from High5, and it's amazing! It easily takes the top spot in all categories. Unfortunately, the premium price means it's not something I can buy frequently so I'm still subbed to PBN Chocolate (still excellent). I'll buy it as a treat when it's on offer.

Really nice flavour. I've tried a few others and while vanilla creme is my favourite, this one is still very nice.I will say though, while the single portion of this is smaller than some other flavours, the recommendation on the back of the packet to have two portions has left me feeling bloated, and it is quite sickly.Stick to one, and you can't go wrong.

I regret buying this protein powder. The taste is genuinely awful — nauseating, almost impossible to get through a full shake without gagging. I’ve tried mixing it with water, milk, and even in a blender bottle with a whisk ball, and it still doesn’t dissolve properly. Clumps and powdery lumps remain at the bottom no matter how long or hard I shake it.For the price I paid (£23-24), I expected at least a decent, drinkable product. Instead I got something that tastes bad and has a gritty, unpleasant texture. I won’t be repurchasing and I’d genuinely warn others away from this one. Very disappointed.

Love this brand, been using it for years now. Favourite are the chocolate and vanilla.

I purchased PHD Diet Whey Belgian Chocolate and I am very satisfied with my choice. For months, I have been trying similar products, and all of them were extremely sweet and hard to drink. This one is not overly sweet, which makes it much more pleasant and easy to consume daily. Even when mixed only with water, it has a creamy texture and a well balanced taste. The product arrived very quickly and without any issues. I am so satisfied that I will also purchase the vanilla flavor. I recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty protein shake that is not too sweet.
