Columbia never lets me down
I'll start by saying that I am already a huge fan of Columbia outerwear. I've owned jackets and fleece from them for years. They are designed for real people who spend real time outdoors...you know...for those of us who do more than just run from the car into a grocery store. After a hip surgery gone bad that has left me less active than before, I have gained some weight...not much, just enough that my existing Columbia Mighty Lite jacket can't have layers added underneath. I can still wear it, but there are times when I need to warm it up with extra clothing under it. So I went in search of a longer jacket that I could size up for layering. I couldn't tell by the descriptions of this hooded jacket and the Columbia Mighty Lite hooded jacket what the real differences are...so I ordered both, knowing that one would go back. I ordered them both in black and did a side by side comparison. At a glace, they look pretty much the same. Both are beautiful. And both fit pretty much the same, although this one (the Heavenly) had a bit more room through the shoulders which I love. The Heavenly has a black fleece-like fabric inside the hood...the Mighty lite does not. For this reason, the Heavenly coat's hood stayed on my head better and was definitely warmer. While both jackets seem to be the same thickness and weight, the Heavenly was warmer than the Mighty lite. The Heavenly jacket has quilting stitches that run through all of the fabric panels, the Mighty lite does not...the quilting stitching is only on the outside fabric. I don't know if this makes a difference in warmth or not. But the Heavenly felt warmer, which is what I wanted. Both jackets have an inner zip pocket at the chest and both have thumb-cuffs at the wrists. The sleeves are plenty long which I love. Often, when I forget to wear gloves or think it's warm enough that I don't need them and end up wanting them, I love to be able to just pull the coat sleeves down over my hands. Problem solved. Both jackets have the obvious quality feel that one expects from Columbia. In the end, I kept the Heavenly and sent the Mighty lite back due to the warmer feel of the Heavenly. The true test came when I walked the dogs in it on a 45 degree day. I was PLENTY warm in it...and at times a bit too warm. This made me happy, as I got this jacket for temps that are colder than this. I have other jackets that will work in 45 degrees. I'll be testing it more when winter arrives (it's fall now).

super comfy & warm!
beautifully made! it is warm and wind proof and FINALLY a coat with long arms :) I’m 5’ and am blessed with long arms. usually sizes S or M have shorter arms that ride up when you stretch out your arms. not this coat! it’s perfect and the wrist cuffs are good quality and very comfortable. the zipper was a bit sticky at first so I rubbed the starter grooves with wax paper - regular kitchen wax paper crumpled up - which leaves no residue (also works great for sliding doors!), and that did the trick! being able to reverse zip from the bottom up to have more width when getting in and out of the car is an added bonus! I wasn’t sure about the glittery silver lining at first, but have grown to love it. it is silky to slide into and does the promised job of keeping you warm. the black is a bit more charcoal than a true black, but it looks great regardless. this is an awesome lightweight coat and I would love to have the same one in red :)

Warm, lightweight and stunning!!
This jacket is definitely worthy of a 5 star rating in every category. Warm, well made, flattering fit, attractive. Having warm, well made clothes in the winter is important, however, if they also fit well, are not bulky, and are flattering then, that is a wonderful bonus. Though it is very warm, partially due to the innovative lining, I believe it could work as a mid-weight in milder temperatures.

Great Jacket
I have never felt comfortable in the winter because I’m that person that is ALWAYS cold! I knew I needed to invest in a good warm jacket. I thought I would need a super puffy jacket (like the Aritzia ones) to keep me warm in 10-30 degree weather. Wrong! I am shocked that something this thin can keep you warm. I wore it to walk around in the mountains in January when it was 30 degrees with a 30 mph wind chill with a light sweater underneath & jeans. I was warm everywhere the jacket didn’t cover: my calves, my hands, my ears, and face. I do think this jacket would work in temperatures colder but I would have to wear multiple layers. I wear XS on top, 26/27 in jeans and I got the S and it fits perfectly. It gives you a shape unlike other jackets I’ve tried, but also enough room for chunkier sweaters and layers. I like how it’s tight around the thumbholes so it doesn’t allow cold air to blow up your sleeve. The pockets are fleece on the inside so nice and cozy if you’re not wearing gloves. The hood isn’t super oversized: but it’s loose enough to wear a hoodie underneath. I also love that you can unzip from the bottom up; it makes it much easier to sit. Overall I’m really impressed with this jacket and I plan to wear it when we travel north in the winter with lots of warm layers underneath. I’m actually going to buy the short version also!

Overall great everyday coat
This coat is lovely . It's my go to coat. Light weight and warm. Great length for cold weather . Comfortable in 40° without layering. I don't love the shimmery silver interior ... but I get that it has a purpose and I got used to it . I'm about 45 pounds and I usually like a fitted look and go for a small. I'm a D cup and with this coat I needed a Medium. It is quite flattering even though it's not too fitted . It really just depends on your body shape . Overal definitely a quality product and worth the purchase . I got Columbia coats for my whole family this year and they are all happy .

Lightweight, Packable & Great fit!
I am a petite (short) 4"11", 100 lb female who has struggled to find a winter coat that I don't "swim in". So after reading other customer reviews, I ordered the X-Small. Columbia has nailed it with the "Heavenly Long Hooded Jacket". First of all, it is amazingly lightweight and very packable for travel. The outer shell has a nice water-resistant sheen to the fabric and the inner shell has the dotted Omni-Heat thermal reflective surface for helping retain heat. It's just the right amount of warmth without making you overheat. The hood and collar are lined with a super-soft comfy fleece. The hood is just right for fit and hugs your head without flopping from side-to-side or covering your eyes. Zippered hand pockets are great for securing your phone, wallet or car keys. There's also an additional hidden inner zipper pocket. The cuffs come with the thumbhole to keep the draft from climbing up your arm. The length is just right allowing for 3/4 body coverage and yet easy to move about. It has a 2-way zipper allowing you to zip from the top-down and/or the bottom-up depending on your preference. I love the quilted jacket design which provides a soft, feminine shaping contour which is lacking in many brands. The X-Small size allows for me to wear a long sleeve shirt and a sweater underneath without feeling confined. This jacket has a great feel and fit and you will love it

Warm and lightweight
My husband bought this for me as a Christmas gift and I love it! It’s so light that we both were skeptical at first, but then I wore it on a cold winter Pennsylvania December day and I was warm! Not just comfortable, but warm! It comes down long enough to cover my upper thighs, so it keeps the wind away, it can zip all the way up to right under your nose. The hood has a soft fuzzy lining on the inside, and even though it’s not very flattering with the hood up in my opinion, it keeps you warm. Walking my active lab in the winter with this coat on, makes it bearable! Highly recommend!! Forgot to mention the design is flattering since it “dips in” a little at the waist on both sides so you have a little shape unlike other jackets I tried before this one that just hung on me.

warmth without bulk
This is the perfect winter coat. It offers a lot of warmth without being bulky. I like the knee length and the attached hood that has a soft, comfortable lining. The coat is water resistant. I took it on a recent trip to Denmark, Scotland, Iceland and Norway. I would guess that the coat would be warm enough to 32 degrees, and in colder weather with layering. Very attractive and my favorite coat for cold weather.

Fits well, flattering cut, does the job!
Love this! I didn’t find the zip a problem like other reviewers. It has a slimming effect and it’s quite warm for 10-15 degrees without the need for layering. If it is below 10 degrees, add on the ice breaker hoodie or the Columbia hoodie that has the reflector in it and it’ll be fine.
