Great UPS
Fast shipping. Well packed. Exactly as described. Device is connected and working. Currently showing 22% usage with 3 poe network switches so I guess I would get about 1-1.5 hours

Software and documentation leave much to be desired
Reasonable product once you get it working but the software and documentation are not the greatest. Documentation is really poorly laid out with no real focused setup section whatsoever. Updating software is kludgy and clearly APC should get some help with usability. Unit works great once you wrangle the hours it takes figuring out how to get it to do basic things like gracefully shut down a server. Not super impressed with my experience speaking to support. Sales was unable to point me to a reseller who actually followed up on anything. Not super impressed so far...

"Online" is a special type of UPS. This is not for everyone.
Please be aware this is an "ONLINE" as opposed to "line interactive" UPS. In most cases a "line interactive" UPS is going to be ideal. APC has an application note detailing this. In North America this would possibly be good only for running on very dirty generator power. An Online UPS is always converting AC->DC->AC. I thought this might be a good solution for power conditioning in Costa Rica where the grid is extremely dirty. I put my electronics on it, and a couple of my house lighting circuits. Unfortunately the "sine wave" output is apparently less sinusoidal than my input power because it caused the lights to flicker when dimmed. So I can't use it in the normally "online" mode. The is a "bypass" and also a "green" mode (the differences between these are not clear). Using the Green Mode solves my flickering problem (because I'm using grid power when available) but unfortunately does not allow me to set the tight voltage tolerance that I want. The setting range is limited to a wide tolerance band. I knew that I was getting an "online" UPS but I think my application would have worked better on a "line interactive" type. The converted output is just not clean enough. It doesn't handle a triac-dimmed load. Should be ok for servers but I would still suggest a "line interactive" type unless you are really sure you need something different.

Customers should be aware of the equipment they are purchasing
APC (SE) has been around a very long time. My company has been a reseller for almost 31 years. When reviews state things like the fans run all the time, there is no need for this. Folks just don't know what they are talking about. Do you think that design engineers say to themselves - I think I am going to make this UPS run fans because I want it to? You have got to be kidding me! Design engineers know what they are doing. If you buy a product that is designed to power a mid-sized computer rack, you get something that is designed to do the job. If you are installing this in your mother's spare bedroom on a gaming machine, think about the application. If you are setting up an APC with a 30 amp twist-lock or worse yet cut the plug off and replace it with a standard 15 amp plug. STOP! You have no idea what you are doing. Please don't confuse others with poor ratings and feedback when in fact you are not using the product as designed by the OEM.
