Great unit
Love the new line up from Pioneer. I went from a DEH-P5800MP to this. I never liked having just the front USB port because I like to keep things hidden. With the 5800 I needed an external source to read my iPod. But since the 9400 has two high powered USB ports in the back, BT streaming from the phone and calling and the front AUX port it is a great update for my 28 year old car. the package includes 1 USB cable. Good thing I have more laying around. I ran one to just behind the center console so people in the back seat could use it if needed. The other I ran to the glove box. I have no complaints. But just so others know, when calling you will not hear the person on the other end through speakers that are going through an external Amp. I only hear calls through the speakers that are attached directly to the unit. Not a big deal to me since I can still hear the person on the other end. 01/07/13 Found that the basic USB extension cable does not work well with this unit. Best to either buy the Pioneer USB extension cable or their USB to iPhone/iPod cable. Maybe it was a fault in the Cable itself. But regardless, with the apple USB cable plugged into the generic USB extension cable in either of the two USB ports in the back of the unit I'd honk the horn or turn off the lights and the USB port with the generic USB cable would momentarily rest the iPod connection. Where Everything worked perfectly with the USB extension cable Pioneer supplied with the unit. Now, maybe this is unique to my car only since it IS a 28 year old car. But, a while back I updated the car to a 130Amp Alternator and have had no power issues. I also checks all my Electrical connections. Then again, once I read the pioneer manual, again, Pioneer did recommend NOT using these types of cables... only cables supplied by them. Other than that the operation of this unit is flawless. Navigating the menus are easy once you learn them... which isn't hard. Puts out great sound. My set up is 6X9 4 way pioneers through a 50W X 2 pioneer amp in the rear and 6 1/2" 4 way Pioneers from the head unit in the front doors. Sounds loud w/o actually being loud. I don't want to be heard down the block or even too far out side the cab.

Nice head unit with iphone compatability
IPHONE: One reason I went with this unit was because it was supposed to work with the iphone well and it does. Bluetooth works great, automatically syncs with phone and starts playing music with the iphone in my pocket. Call quality is acceptable. Receive calls and when you hang up the call on the radio it goes right back to the songs I have in the phone. Phonebook and received/dialed calls ect. load right up on the radio. Sound quality is pretty good with bluetooth but even better when connected by usb. With usb you have all the ipod search functions right on the radio and can see the songs displayed. Open Pandora and the radio switches to that and it can be displayed and controlled by the radio. For the iphone it really is an easy setup. I am not sure about other phones as I haven't had a chance to try any. The only glitch I've found is if you use bluetooth and usb at the same time it can get confused but quick run through the source selection puts it right on track. I also got the XM reciever add-on and it works well although the display options could be a little better. CD player sounds good and the HD radio is also nice. I do like the overall unit itself,to me the sound quality is good. It is sort of a menu type display to get to functions of the radio like subwoofer settings, High pass filter, bass boost ect. but for me was rather intuitive and easy to learn. A few dedicated buttons would be nice though.I am running this with 2 amps on the highs and 1 on the subs. I use the crossovers on the radio and they work well and are easy to adjust. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. I have always been an Alpine guy in the past but there just seemed to be to much bang for my buck with this unit. Good SQ, ipod, handsfree, bluetooth, pandora, xm, CD's, HD radio.........a nice upgrade!
