Easy to use and effective
Bought to install maple sap mainline and lateral line. This has made it much easier to determine grade of installed lines. Would recommend to any maple syrup producer.

Great for a quick elevaton assessment
Found this to be a well made unit, and with my son as the stick man with a home made elevation rod, it only took a few minutes to figure how much drop we needed on a drainage ditch we needed to dig. You wouldn't layout a building foundation with it, but comes in handy when you want to see how level or how much rise or fall you are dealing with.

Works great
My husband says that it worked great and it was easy to use.

Handy device for estimating level
Purchased it to set the slope for a zip line. Not a precision instrument, but accurate enough for general purpose applications. Stadia lines provide rough estimate of distances by measuring a known vertical height and knowing the angle between the stadia lines (instructions included). Bottom surface is flat, so it can also be used as a torpedo level.

PRETTY MUCH WHAT I NEEDED AND EXPECTED
This isn't a builders level. The purpose of this is to make rough evaluations regarding elevation. I need it to determine rise and fall on property for determining building requirement prior to making offers to purchase. It does this very well. You could make a very rough but satisfactory topographic site map (not including holes and bumps) for purposes of preliminary drawings. I'd go to a builders level or transit eventually, however. It really does serve the purpose for which it's intended.

Handy for Simple Grade Checking
Obviously, this is not for serious, detailed, long-distance grade checking, but for quickly figuring out approximate, short-distance, grades, this thing is awesome. Easy to use, metal case feels substantial, and can be slipped into a pocket. I work in civil construction management, and it is a great tool.

Not 2X.
It is not 2X. Otherwise ok but wanted the multiplier as it's hard to read rod numbers at any distance.

Great lil instrument. Accurate to.
Use this as a quick reference when grading land. It's accurate while free handing it on the machine. Handy to have for leveling or needing slope for drainage. Would buy again.
