Robertshaw Product 41-204

I used this product to repair my 30 inch Capital Culinarian oven which wasn't getting hot. Gas would ignite but not come up to temperature after an extended period. Trouble shooting on Youtube led to some videos of others with similar issue who fixed the problem by replacing this igniter. The repair isn't hard because my oven model is fairly simple to disassemble. If you can turn a screw driver and twist some wire nuts this repair is possible. There was no disconnecting of gas needed for my oven model, but do need to turn off breaker. I confirmed ignition prior to reassembly and then after reassembly I tested oven temp at 350 and it is right on. We'll see how long the part lasts because the oven was only 6 years old and the OEM igniter failed. It seems this is a common failure point on gas ovens from what I read. If it does go out again I'll know how to fix and may buy a spare one of these so I have it available.

From Robert Shaw, but the same exact markings as the original (CoorsTek). This was on my Culinarian, but the Precision should be the same as only the cook top is different. Do not pay over $200 for the SAME EXACT part from Capital. The small oven uses this same igniter. For the broiler search "ROBERTSHAW 501A Hot Surface Oven Igniter" as it has been verified as correct. For troubleshooting purposes my symptom was that all of a sudden the oven would not heat above about 200*. Resistance in the element had changed enough that there was not enough current to fully open the safety valve. Oven would light, but there was only a low flame. Once swapped out the flame came on and had the correct sound, flame was measurable higher and more energetic. As a side note, be sure to turn off the electricity as the wiring for the igniter does carry 120v. If the control knob was accidentally hit then the wire would energize.

DCS. RGT364 igniter. This Robert Shaw igniter is working flawlessly and is the exact same size and fit as the original DCS igniter My oven heats up like new and no more long heat up times or gas smell or fluttering Update March 2025. The Robert Shaw Igniter lasted a little over 4 years as I am now in need of a replacement. Robert Shaw is an OEM replacement not a Chinese knockoff. Do not hesitate to make this purchase. I will buying the same one again and saving a lot of money in the process
