Can this lamp be turned on using a smart plug or does the built in switch default to off when it loses power?

Thank you for asking. We actually do not recommend using a smart plug. Sometimes electronics such as this which require power all the time to operate don’t work well with CFL or some LED products but it is dependent on how the plugs are wired inside. It is difficult for us to know about all the different products and wiring, therefore we simply cannot recommend their use with our products as it may result in shortened product life or performance issues. Does this lamp give the same natural light like the older black desk lamp that was so popular for crafts? Love the daylight natural lighting.
