Review: Excellent detector from a pro-level company - Klein Tools also makes a pen style detector but I did not need one that fits in a shirt pocket. So I went with the full-sized user interface and gooseneck. The gooseneck was convenient for some spots. I read a lot of reviews where no detection occurs so I tested it in a safe way and it detected immediately on a tiny amount of natural gas at the most sensitive setting. I think people blast the device with a ton of gas when testing and maybe that overloads it. Detection range is in a range measured in parts per MILLION so keep that in mind. Anyway, Klein Tools is an old top of the line company and I would go with them. The price is reasonable. Very easy to use and read what is going on. This tool is very simple to operate and conclusively confirms whether there is a gas leak--and if so, where it is coming from. (Because it showed I did not have a leak at the time, I tested this by opening an unlit gas burner and "searched" for it. It worked perfectly.) I was unable to find any info. methane, butane and propane and others* but that doesnt say H2S specifically. **Q: Can it be used for car?** A: It will detect gasoline fumes but is not a carbon monoxide detector. **Q: Will this detect hydrogen** A: No **Q: Will it work for r290 refrigerant?** A: Although I have never tried it on refrigerant. The unit is made to detect combustible gasses. Highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent device at the right price *by M***G on January 15, 2021* I used this device to track down a gas leak in my rental property. A tenant kept complaining about a "strong gas odor" but neither I nor other tenants were able to smell it. With this device, I immediately picked up a low level presence of gas in the building, and tracked it down to exactly where it was entering the building along the electrical service conduit coming from the street. A major leak had developed in the underground main and gas was seeping through the ground into openings in the surrounding buildings. This device responds to changes in the amount of gas within 1-2 seconds, quickly enough to sweep around and pinpoint the source. It takes one minute to warm up and calibrate in fresh air, then you enter the area on high sensitivity, switch to low when you max out, and continue until you find the source. Easy. I have owned other Klein tools in the past and they have never disappointed. This one is no exception.
