You may be able to use the standard 9" sanding grits, but the edge-vacuum pickup around the periphery of the sanding head may not capture All of the sanding dust if you sand large areas. The Rectangular sander that comes with this Kit should be just fine. Bear in mind, though , that the rectangular sanding sheets have vacuum holes to allow for pickup. Screen sanding sheets Will Work, when cut to shape. Ordering extra sheet in various sanding grades is reasonably inexpensive through Amazon, and they have a good count selection for either Contracting or Home needs. I have mine hooked up to a fairly powerful vacuum- and I get No Loose "fines" at all. I still put down visqueine (3 mil), and drop cloths, to capture any spillage once the vacuum is turned off- or if i have any manual tough-up sanding to do. This rig replaced my manual pole sander. All ceilings in my Son's home, plus a 2-car garage and a medium-sized enclosed Patio- had to be re-finished flat after all the asbestos-laden Popcorn was Professionally removed by Cooper and Company of St.Petersburg, Florida- a job that took a Month to finish. I came in behind it to repair incidental gougeings from the scrapers- and all the bad Seam work that the original Popcorn covered up when the home was originally Built. This sanding system is Very Efficient, and a lot easier on the arms and shoulders than a conventional motorized hand-held, and a definite improvement over a regular hand-operated, 9 inch, manual Ceiling sander. With a good vacuum source, the dust capture is Grand! Less cleanup at the end of the day. You can adjust the amount of vacuum with the slide collar on the flex hose, and the vacuum will help to hold the sanding disc to the ceiling if properly adjusted, This gives you the ability to focus more on pushing and pulling the sander across the work surface-without also having to keep the sander head firmly pressed to the ceiling to maintain sanding contact. Because the hand sander is interchangeable with the ceiling sander, you can also use the disc sander for broad areas of Wall Surfaces too. A Well Made- and well Thought Out Tool for Anyone who has to do Drywall repair, either as a Homeowner- or as a Contractor. **Q: And this sander be used for wood floors and walls?** A: I can't imagine using it to sand a wood floor. It is designed to do light sanding on drywall with reduced dust. **Q: Does anyone prefer this over the electric sander?** A: On large flat seams no but on all the small spots and in corners this system works well and if i have a lot of small repairs it is faster than getting out my power sander. I use this system on ever job in some way. **Q: Can you control the amount of suction with both attachments? I have a powerful shopvac and these sander them to cling to the wall.** A: There is no way that I am aware of to control the suction. Now guys, this was one of those rare moments in life where your wife, who otherwise thinks you waste money on tools and critiques all your purchases, is now adamant... ADAMANT...that we buy $2500 in gear to fix some random spots of drywall in your home. We're talking about patches.I'm like OMG ITS HAPPENING!!! And I couldn't do it. I couldn't in good conscience buy the Planex. I told her this manual pole sander would likely provide what we need for a tenth of the cost. And it does. It's really good. There is hardly any dust when using the round pole sander. Some dust is retained in the mesh and head but that's easy to deal with. The rectangular square sander works well enough. It's not commercial quality but it's nice and solid.On a happy note, I argued that my rigid shop vac would work well enough and we didn't need the Festool. I’ve been a drywall contractor for over 40 years and have been doing mostly remodels in homeowners lived in houses for the last 25 years or so. I’ve used this vacuum sanding system every week for the last 4 years and is far superior to any of the motorized (heavy) sanders by far. Does not tear up the corners with its plastic construction and is able to suck in almost all dust with the proper vacuum set up. I suggest at least a 6hp vacuum with an internal disposal bag and clean the filter regularly. Well worth this meager investment for controlling dust and quality sanding performance. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is a great tool for sanding. I don't like the round head and how it works but the square head is very good and the best dust free pole sander I have ever used well worth the money.
