I'm not sure because I usually take my put before eating. I'm assuming if you did they would slip out anyway

They are useless...I returned mine. They don’t fit and or stay on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Do they fit over springs?

These did not even fit over my braces. I have ceramic on my uppers and they did not fit them. I could not cut off the attachments because they did not line up.
