He is also a diabetic, and, due to the stroke and diabetic neuropathy, he slowly began to get foot drop in both feet. That is exhausting for a person not to mention made him unstable. I work in PT and had been hounding him to get an order for custom made AFOs (Ankle foot Orthoses). He finally did. He even went to the Orthotist to have them made. However, after insurance covered their share, we would have been responsible for over $2k for each AFO!!!! So what did I do? Well, the other 2 are still in the packages because he loves these so much.
