## Description

desertcart.com: Dayton Audio Wave-Link WLS System 2.4 GHz Full Range Wireless Audio Transmitter & Receiver System : Electronics

Review: No noticable perfomance difference between this and wired performance with a sub.. - Great experience with the previous version, the WS-12 Sub-Link XR and an SVS sub. Almost 4 years of always-on service, no issues. Subjectively, no difference between wired and wireless performance. I moved the XR to another system and replaced it with this, the Dayton Audio Wave-Link WLS. The WLS comes paired from the factory so installation is simple. Plug in the power supplies, connect the cables and done. After re-running my receivers Audyssey set up routine and tweaking the sub's settings, great result. I have the transmitter and receiver about 16 feet apart and not line of site. The receiver is behind a chair and the transmitter behind a television. No drop-outs or interference/noise issues in spite of a combined 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz wifi network being present. No hum, buzz, static. My sub reliably powers up when a signal is detected and goes into standby mode when a signal is not present just as it did when I had it hard wired. No issues with 'mystery' power ups and downs. No noticeable latency issues. Others have pointed out some issues. Wireless issues can have a number potential causes. I'd start trouble shooting by using a good power conditioner/noise filter from a supplier like Tripp Lite or Furman. You won't have to spend a lot and even if it doesn't solve the problem, you'll have the peace of mind knowing your equipment is protected from over/under voltage and extreme surges. Further with noise/interference troubleshooting, I'd suggest replacing the included interconnects with BJC's MSA-1, a 3.5mm to RCA or Tripp Lite's version, UPC code 037332012142. Both companies have long histories of building reliable, well shielded, well engineered and cost effective products. I'd start with Tripp Lite given the cost difference. The BJC's cost more but can be special ordered in custom lengths, specific brands of connectors, etc. Neither are the insanely expensive 'audio jewelry' peddled by unscrupulous or predatory companies that will gladly relieve you of your hard earned cash. How about an Audioquest Angel, 3.5mm to RCA cable currently priced in desertcart at $2,199.95? As with the XR, once the WLS is dialed in, no noticeable difference between wired and wireless performance . The only significant difference I know of between this and the XR is that this has a DAC and is switchable between digital and analog mode. The WLS's DAC enables use with a pc/mac connected by USB. The specs state that the frequency response of the DAC is 20Hz-22000kHz and a sample rate of 48KHz. For a sub, this is far more than you'll need. Very few subs are capable of operating below 20Hz and even if there were, there aren't many audio sources that go below 20Hz. Regardless, if you have a sub that will go below 20Hz, something to consider. Although I haven't tried, the specs should be more than enough for a satisfactory result with full range speakers as well. I don't know if this will allow for a bit perfect transfer from computer to DAC/pre-amp/receiver but if it does, very cool. SVS used to sell the XR directly from their website and when that was discontinued, started selling the WLS. This implies that they've tested both and are confident about it's performance. They now sell a wireless SVS branded adapter with different form factor than XR and WLS. The SVS branded adapter has better published specs but hard to say if this would result in a noticeable performance difference. Bottom line, great product and highly recommended.
Review: Sounds like the Central AC running when not in use. - This thing works fine but when not in use, it hums. Pretty disappointing. Followed the directions to try and eliminate the problem, no joy.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My subwoofer continually thumps in the middle of the night and at other times. How do I fix this?**
A: 2.4ghz interference from wifi networks. Try changing the channels on you router. It is possible that it is coming from a neighbors device.

**Q: Does it come with usb dongle for power?**
A: Yes, it includes a 120V to usb adapter

**Q: Can I use it for headphones?**
A: Technically, a 1/8" headphone jack will fit into the output module; it is dual channel capable but it isn't designed for the higher frequencies. Not what I would use for decent headphones. I also doubt the output would be anywhere nearly as good as a low-end DAC or even an extension cable since the WLS is for LFE signals. I've returned mine but if I still had the setup I'd give it a shot. Can't damage anything if you try!!!

**Q: How many dayton audio wave-link you can have on dayton bst-200.**
A: Note Dayton Audio BSA-200 is a bass amplifier and the BST is a speaker/shaker. Your question is not fully understood, so I’ll assume 2 different scenarios. #1: you want to connect your sub amp wireless to your main system. The Wave Link transmitter connects to the Sub Out of your main stereo amp. The Wave Link Receiver connects to your BSA -200 line input. At that point you could take the BSA-200 Line Out into the Line Input of another BSA-200 amp and so on and so on. In this scenario you have only one wireless link between your main amp and your 1st sub amp. The additional sub amps are hard wired. Scenario #2: This will allow you to have 4 wireless connections for sub speakers. You will need a 1 In / 4 Out audio splitter, such as a Dtech 4 Port Audio Splitter. In this scenario you connect the sub out of your main amp to the input of the Dtech splitter. Then you can connect 4 Wave Link Transmitters to the 4 outputs of the splitter. Then connect 4 Wave Link Receivers to your 4 BSA-200! Sub amps at various locations. I’m not 100 % sure you will not have frequency interference with the 4 Wave Link Systems but they all are transmitting and receiving the same sub signal. This may be a question for he Wave Link engineers. Not knowing your exact set up puts me at a disadvantage to answer your question correctly. I hope this helps…

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works awesome and is also a USB audio device (so audio-in is optional if you're on a computer!)
*by J***I on January 30, 2018*

I searched high and low for an audio transmitter that was: • USB powered • Compact • Allowed for 3.5mm jacks for audio in/out This was exactly what I needed. I actually ordered a different vendor's unit which arrived a day earlier, which I had to return because it had a slight hum in the signal. I'm connecting a MacBook running MainStage and connected to a bunch of USB audio devices, living in a condo with many other electronics in the area, so while it was disappointing, I half expected it. When the Dayton package arrived, I was skeptical but hopeful. The devices are sleek and beautifully designed, which was a plus. But the only thing that truly mattered was: will it work, without any hum? I connected everything up and heard a pretty great signal with the audio transmitting! But when there was no signal, I could hear a really silent-but-definitely-there hum. Super disappointed... But then I realized that the device showed up as a USB audio device! I tried it and IT WORKED! ZERO HUM! Exactly what I'd been looking for!!! I don't know which genius designed this device, but it is excellent, unique, and exactly what I needed. Thank you for reducing the clutter in my home, and allowing me to set up a pretty epic jam setup with minimal wires!
