It Books The Style Strategy: A Less-Is-More Approach to Staying Chic and Shoppi

Things I liked: 1. The cover and the illustrations. It would be accurate to say that the book itself is very stylish. The illustrations by Ruben Toledo are amazingly coloured and beautifully sketched. 2. The approach of the author towards fashion is smartly written in a lucid language. 3. The less is more approach explained in the book. The author's message is simple- to look stylish in everyday life you need to be organised. You have to plan your dresses and shop accordingly. Instead of breaking the bank, one needs to become an inventor and an investor to cultivate the sense of style. Things I didn't like: 1. The book is very much American. Unless one mostly wears western dresses, this book is not very useful for an Indian reader.

Garcia is repeating her tips and tricks from the book "the 100". I loved the 100 book, but this one was disapointing. García gives advice how to clean out your drawer, how to wash silk and how store your boots. Better invest in her 100 book!!

Love this whole series. So interesting and a fun read.

Credit-crunching stuff this: how to do chic on the cheap. It starts where they all start; the dreaded wardrobe decluttering scene. But wait! In Nina World, you don't have to throw out those unfashionable outfits with seams that are pinned together from sentimentality alone. No, no. In Nina World, it's OK to attach memories and emotions to a garment; it doesn't have to be consigned to a black bin-bag. Nina, you see, knows that her area of expertise is style. She doesn't set out to be a psychologist or a quasi life coach. She allows you your quirks - encourages them, almost - and shows you how to develop an approach to style that is fundamentally yours. Featuring hundreds of well-chosen quotes from both philosophers and style icons (Miss Piggy, etc), there are also lots of insights into the celebrity life, eg Which blonde star uses a well-known brand of baby shampoo to maintain her locks? Answer . . . read it yourself! This is the third of Nina's gorgeous little books: beautifully illustrated and presented and over-flowing with tips, humour and common-sense. For me, it's a bath-time read. If you're considering buying the book as a gift: excellent choice. But you'll need to buy a copy for yourself too.

Not rocket science - I just need a way and perhaps some mantras to rein in my shopping - so I got this as an attempt to do just that - create some structure around my shopping...my goal now is to appreciate the pretty things I have and find the gaps - and just fill those...having this book as encouragement helps [I shop a lot and love EVERYTHING] with shopping less, focusing and being more efficient/responsible...it's a cute and fun read.
