Flavorous Shitoh

The flavor is amazing!! If you like spicy, this is perfect! The jar was wrapped with care. It was on time and I will plan to buy again. My only critique is that they need a MILD version. That would be more my speed because it’s quite spicy.

I can't compare this to other Shitoh as it was my first experience, but I really enjoyed learning to cook with this. I think it's a little expensive but you do get a lot of product, because a little goes a long way with a flavor as strong as this.

I like the flavor, especially the flavor of the ground dried shrimp in the sauce. This is a serious condiment/sauce. I get the sense that I might not be as well liked for the American Average Joe , but it is damn good for me. Having studied abroad in Ghana and eaten this sauce on several occasions there, tasting this sauce really took me back to my experience in the country. This sauce really deserves all 5 stars in America. I had the sauce on Kenkey, black eyed peas, crackers, eggs and a few other foods. Being so hard to find, and so tasty, the increased price of this sauce is well worth it. Cheers!

One always wonders when buying something in the United States in a bottle that has its origins elsewhere if it is going to be authentic, if it’s going to taste like what you would actually get if you were buying the item, in this case, in Africa. I lived in Africa for a time, Ghana specifically, and while I admit I had a hard time with a lot of the food local to the region, I loved one or two specific dishes. I was contacted recently by one of my friends, who is from Ghana, and it made me start to crave one of them. I live in a very rural town right now and The closest place I could go buy anything African would be in the state capital! So I took a chance on this from Amazon because it was priced better and gave you as much or more than the other options. And let me tell you, as a guy who lived in the place where the stuff originated, this is authentic. It tastes the same as the Shito (pronounced shee-tow) I had there. So if you’re a Ghanaian looking for a taste of home, or fascinated in trying a taste of West African culture, this is the ticket. A simple way to use this is to make The dish I was craving: waakye (pronounced watch-A), which is white rice and black-eyed peas mixed together with boiled egg on the side and topped with this shito. (to make it authentically it requires a little more than this but doing it this way doesn’t really alter the flavor). Enjoy!

Almost finished it in one go. I wish the pepper was hot enough as a west African I need more heat. But that's just me. This is a great product.

While my previous shito order had been great, this time the jar arrived leaking all over the interior of the plastic wrapping the jar, and had soaked into the cardboard box my order was packaged in.
