Craftelier - Magic Mat® Magnetic Self-Healing Cutting Mat for Big Shot by Sizzix | Ideal for Use with Your Die Cutting Machine | Dimensions 22.5 x 15.5 x 0.3 cm - Pink Colour

Absolutely love these Magic Mats from Craftelier. They prevent the dies from going blunt, they make intricate dies cut easier, and they are relatively inexpensive. I’ve used both the ordinary self-healing Magic Mat (Aqua Green) and the magnetic version (this pink one) and they are both brilliant. Personally I prefer the magnetic version as it makes cutting smaller pieces on scraps of paper that much easier - they are less likely to shift about when adding the top plate or loading it into the machine. Over time they will warp and bend, but you definitely get your money’s worth out of them before they need replacing. I also have the silicone embossing Magic Mat which makes a massive difference to the quality in texture from my embossing folders. The fact that I can buy these mats individually from Amazon instead of the faff of buying from Craftelier and waiting for it to be delivered from abroad is great!

I brought this to replace one of my cutting plates on my second hand die cut machine. I was a little wide by approximately 1cm, decided for the price I would trim it down slightly, now it works perfectly.

I'm not sure what's magic about this item, seems like the regular self healing cutting mat, but works great as a replacement cutting plate in the sandwich layer in BigShot. I noticed it dents easily but smoothes out a bit by using a bit of heat. Doesn't fit the Cuttlebug die cutting machine though, its a bit too big to go through.

Came on time, well wrapped, not damaged in any way, happy with my purchase, slightly smaller than I thought but that is ok

I’m an occasional customer of Craftelier - as much as their papers are brightly photographed but dully coloured in reality - their tools are great, so try imagine my disappointment when I received this Magic Mat. The mat arrived in original packaging, seemingly unopened, but on closer inspection it had been used (see video). There were cut marks and glue smears which didn’t come off when washed. For the price however and the lack of a direct communications line to the company, I decided to keep it. The mat does work as shown on the introductory video, replacing a cutting plate, cuts well and embosses in one go. Beware though if you have a Gemini die cutting machine or another with thin plates - the Magic Mat deforms, which in turn deforms and stretches the paper (especially large pieces, 5”, DL). I trust the mat would do much better with a flat-bed machine like the Sizzix. Other than that - the cut marks never disappear completely, and the mat doesn’t self-heal like it would after a blade cut, possibly because the nature of due cutting is different to blade cutting. The photos were taken 24hrs after die cutting and heating to try to straighten the mat and get the cuts to heal. All said - I’m going to keep my mat and even buy another for my other machine as I rather like it’s cutting and embossing performance.

.... and I managed to warp this mat quite quickly (heavy usage) .... it was really bowed! When my Gemini plates get like that (and they do, too quickly) it's time to bin them - but I took a heat tool to this new mat and a few minutes later the mat is completely flat again! Yay! Will buy another for my manual machine!
