Barbie Careers Advent Calendar

My 5 year old has loved opening this calendar and has played with it quite a bit. The Barbie is pretty and she is of higher quality. Her knees don't bend but her elbows and wrists do so she poses into beautiful positions. The other Barbie advent calendars I've seen in the past don't have much variety, and this one is so well thought out with not only a variety of outfits, but it is cleverly put together to allow for so many options. Her pink shoes don't stay on well but overall I'm impressed with the quality, especially the dancing outfit. My daughter loves dressing dolls right now so she has quite enjoyed this. It is harder to open the boxes than some advent calendars we've had in the past years because the box is thicker and sturdier, so I have to help her, which I would probably have to any way.

I purchased this for my 4 year old daughter, a huge Barbie fan. I ordered a bit late, so we got to open up a few on that first day. Day 1 was the doll, which has a blue leotard and her blond hair pulled in a side ponytail. The wrist, elbow, and shoulder joints are articulated which will be nice for creating the ballerina or figure skater poses. The next few days contained the shoes, skirt, and tiara accessories for the ballerina costume. My daughter is super excited to continue opening each day. And I like how the sections are not in numerical order, so I get a mini math lesson for my preschooler as she searches for the correct number. The only negative thing about this calendar is that the sections are quite difficult to open, and there is no way my daughter would be able to do it on her own. But the quality of the doll and accessories more than make up for that, so I didn't feel that removing a star was necessary. Overall, this Barbie Careers Advent Calendar is a quality product that will bring joy to any little girl interested in Barbie.

So far, my daughter has enjoyed this set. The doll is day 1, which is fun. We liked that the doll's shoulders, elbows, and wrists have moveable joints, but it should also have included leg joints. How can Barbie ski without her knees bent? Silly, Mattel. For the price, a fully functional "on the move" Barbie should be included. Day 2 provides ballet slippers, Day 3 the ballet skirt, and that's only how far we've got. I got this set primarily because of the vet and ski accessories, which are hard to find on their own. This toy inspires imaginative role play with my daughter, and Barbies were my favorite toy when I was young. I never had poor self-esteem or negative body image concepts because of Barbie's distorted and unrealistic proportions. It's a doll! Of course it's not realistic! That said, changing the doll's clothes is a fine motor skill, inspires creative thinking, and decision-making. I complement my daughter's play with the Barbie pet vet and farm vet books. My daughter is interested in a vet career, and the Doc McStuffins toys are now under her age interest. I've been impressed by Barbie's progressive line of "Career Barbies" and how the options present the brand as a diverse character with various "Barbie" dolls that feature different ethnicities and now even body shapes and contours.

My daughter loves Barbie and this was the highlight of our Christmas. For the price I thought we got a lot of really good things. Not junk by any means. The doll was nice- hair was good quality of the doll itself was like any Mattel Barbie you would purchase separately. She came with outfits that were well sewn and fit the doll. And there were of accessories. The only disappointment out of 25 things was a plastic chef hat. My daughter actually played with all morning on Christmas rather than playing with her actual presents. Its about 2 months since Christmas and I will say I still see then doll and accessories on my living room floor so she is still playing with it.

Okay, so I bough this as a birthday gift, after Christmas because we don't celebrate Christmas and the price was right, my daughter has quite a few Barbie dolls but hardly any clothing for them and I wanted her to have a choice of outfits for her dolls. I thought that this would give her a whole range of outfits, I thought each day would have a different item of clothing....well, sort of, but really, it's 5 different outfits and one doll. I do think you get your money's worth because you get a doll with it, and it is lot's of fun for the kid to open.

I can not say enough good things about this calendar. My 6 year old really wanted an advent calendar and I assumed chocolate. Nope! She wanted some kind of toy or activity. I searched and found this one. It was a very low price for what is given in this package. Note that the box is big. She would take it up and down and up and down, carrying it everywhere. She loved everything that came inside each day and could not wait to see what was next. BUY THIS! Super worth it. Now to find something equally as great for next year.

This is a cute idea, but the items in it are such poor quality. I can't believe I paid so much for such junk. The Dr. Jacket was ripped along the seam, one pair of shoes won't fit the Barbie, the Barbie itself is terrible quality. It is hard to move the arms in the right position, and the legs go all over the place. I am terribly disappointed that the makers of Barbie would lower their standards to this. We still have several days to open, and I hope the other things fit and aren't ripped. I won't waste my money on one of these again.

My 5 year old absolutely squealed receiving this advent calendar. However, we got to day 3 and there was nothing in it! So overall, it's a cute idea, but how is it possible to have a missing toy when the days are sealed? I'm hoping that's the only missing day, but we're only on December 4.
