From Disneynature, the studio that brought you Earth and Chimpanzee, comes Bears - an epic story of breathtaking scale. Showcasing a year in the life of a bear family, mother Sky teaches her two impressionable cubs, Amber and Scout about life’s most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop, their journey begins as winter ends. Emerging from hibernation, the three face the bitter cold and an exciting but very risky outside world. Astonishing footage captures the fast-moving action and suspense of an endearing family learning to live life to its fullest in one of the planet’s last great wildernesses. Review: For what it is this is brilliant! - Let me start by stating what this is not: It is not David Attenborough and although made by the BBC nature team it is not at all like a BBC nature documentary. It is a fun film aimed squarely at the 3 - 13 age bracket with a good overlap into mums and dads. No animal gets hurt apart from some salmon who are eaten and there is lots of light dialogue that manages to avoid the cheesy levels many previous Disney films descended to. It is a delightful film about a mother bear and her two cubs during their first year and it is most beautifully filmed. The extras are good two. My only active dislike was the ghastly song used in the film but then I am almost certainly the wrong generation for that! This is a perfect film to use to introduce young children to the great outdoors. My copy heads for my grandchildren and I know they will love it. Review: Amazing scenery, cute bear cubs, and fun for the whole family! - I can't say enough good things about this movie. My 4 year old daughter is not interested in TV much but she loves shows about real animals (not cartoons). She and I both love this movie! It is the story of a bear family in Alaska and what they do every day to find food and stay safe. It is absolutely appropriate for preschool aged kids, with just a few parts with loud bear roaring. The narration by John C. Reilly is excellent - easy to hear and funny at times. The scenery in BluRay is stunning, right up there with the Planet Earth series. Get this and watch it with your family!

Love it!! Buy this for yourself and for your children
Love this movie. I am a senior and I have always been fascinated by bears. This was such a sweet movie. My granddaughter loves it as well. One of Disney's best and none of the animals get killed or die. It's a happy movie with a beautiful ending of the bears going back to their den together for the winter. I highly, highly recommend this movie for children or any age, and the adults will also enjoy it, if only for the beautiful scenery.

awesome movie. I want to see it in the ...
awesome movie. I want to see it in the theater with my 4 year old and he loved it and then I bought it online here on Amazon and my 4 year old has watched it 5 times and loved it even better every time he sees it and I have had guests come over and watch it and they thought that Disney did a great job with making the film. I highly recommend it and the violence and it is not a big deal there are a couple scenes where a beer goes at it with another beer but they quickly do a change over so there is really no bloodshed of violence for your child to worry about. I highly recommend you buy it from Amazon for a 4 year old and up even adults love it I have seen it a few times and it is a great movie

Great visuals with slightly ill-fitting narration
The footage is of course amazing. However, it would have been better done as a straight nature documentary. John C. Reilly seems awkwardly matched with the film. He moves haphazardly from unobtrusive narration to comments like, "This guy reminds me of my dad when he's watching TV.. Hey, who changed the channel?" While the scene is just a bear relaxing on its back. There is hardly a storyline at all, and often I just wanted to mute the voiceover and enjoy the bears without the constant anthropomorphizing from Reilly. I'm a big fan of his movies - Step Brothers in an all time fave - but think of that face during a nature film and all seriousness evaporates! :) Kids should love it though - the bear violence is very toned down, no mortality or mating is included, Disney kept it family friendly.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film
The movie is great from beginning to end. I watched it with my 7yr and 9yr old children and they enjoyed it as well. The movie sparked their attention immediately and they laughed and had sad moments (just like any Disney movie) but of course ended well. The narrator does a great job not only of explaining what all we are seeing on the screen and why it is that Brown bears do those things, but he also uses humor and some sarcasm so it's really enjoyable for all ages. I would recommend "Bears" to all ages.

This is unique in that it had a story told from the bears' point of view instead of the usual narrated nature DVD's. Great photography. Some parts were quite comical and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
